Job Description

The Director, Financial Systems Operations provides strategic leadership for the organization's financial systems, enterprise reporting, financial applications, and operational support functions. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, continuous improvement, and effective utilization of enterprise financial systems that support accounting, finance, contracts, projects, procurement, and business operations.

This individual is responsible for the strategy, governance, optimization, and operational support of the organization's financial systems ecosystem. This leader partners with Finance, IT, Accounting, FP&A, Procurement, HR, and external vendors to ensure financial applications are stable, scalable, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.

The ideal candidate combines deep financial systems expertise with operational leadership, enterprise application management, automation, and financial process improvement experience.

Leads a multidisciplinary organization responsible for financial systems administration, business applications, reporting and analytics, user support, governance, and business process improvement while partnering closely with Finance, Information Technology, Contracts, Human Resources, Strategic Acquisition, Internal Audit, and other business leadership. The position oversees multiple managers and supervisors supporting approximately 25 employees and provides leadership for major enterprise initiatives, system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and operational excellence efforts.

How the Director, Financial Systems Operations will make an impact:

  • Develop and execute the long-term strategy for enterprise financial systems.

  • Develop and execute the financial systems roadmap aligned with corporate strategy.

  • Lead day-to-day operations of ERP and support financial applications.

  • Ensure system reliability, performance, security, and availability.

  • Manage system upgrades, releases, patches, and enhancements.

  • Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of mission-critical financial applications.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, automation, internal controls, and user experience.

  • Establish governance processes for application changes, prioritization, testing, and production deployments.

  • Foster collaboration between Finance, IT, and business organizations to deliver integrated business solutions.

  • Lead organizational change management, communications, and user adoption for new technologies.

  • Sponsor innovation through automation, analytics, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, audit standards, and corporate policies.

  • Partner with Finance leadership to improve accounting and reporting processes.

  • Collaborate with IT on architecture, integrations, cybersecurity, and infrastructure.

  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.

WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:

The Director, Financial Systems Operations must have:
Education: Bachelor's degree required
10+ years of related finance/IT experience

Experience managing ERP implementations or major system upgrades

Experience supporting organizations with $500M+ annual revenue preferred

Experience working within public companies or SOX-regulated environments

Experience in a leadership capacity managing a team or leading major projects
US Person

Location: Hybrid to GDIT Falls Church or Herndon, VA office with an expectation of working 3 days/week in office

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $164,382 - $215,004. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
