Description

Filmmaker

Location: Granite Bay Campus

Reports to: Senior Video Director

FLMA: Non-exempt

Job Status: Full-time

The Filmmaker is a multidisciplinary visual storyteller who brings ideas to life through concept development, direction, cinematography, and editing. This role owns projects from initial concept to final delivery, crafting cinematic stories that reflect the heart of Bayside Church, inspire action, and connect with real people. Working closely with the Creative team and ministry partners, the Filmmaker produces a wide range of content, short-form and long-form video, podcasts, promos, and event recaps that uphold a cohesive visual style and a high standard of excellence across every Bayside platform.

Responsibilities

  • Lead film and video projects from concept to final delivery, including pre-production planning, directing, cinematography, and post-production editing.
  • Develop compelling concepts, story arcs, creative treatments, scripts, and storyboards that communicate vision and tone.
  • Shoot and edit a wide range of content: short-form social, long-form features, podcasts, promos, and event recaps.
  • Manage on-set logistics and technical execution-camera, lighting, audio, blocking, and talent direction.
  • Tailor final deliverables to their platform or context (weekend services, campaigns, social, and podcast) for maximum impact.
  • Maintain a cohesive visual style and brand consistency across all Bayside platforms.
  • Recruit, develop, and lead a team of creative volunteers who can assist with shoots and edits.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Senior Video Director.

Mission Critical Responsibilities

  • Exercise sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and humility as a representative of Bayside Church.
  • Support, model, and advance Bayside Church's mission, vision, values, and staff culture.
  • Champion a culture of collaboration, innovation, and spiritual development within the production ministry.
  • Maintain open and frequent communication with your supervisor, staff, and team.
  • Model Christ-like character and servant leadership on and off the clock.
  • Steward church resources responsibly, demonstrating integrity and excellence in all decisions.

Primary Strengths

  • Strong understanding of DaVinci Resolve (cut, color, and audio workfows); Adobe Premiere Pro proficiency a plus.
  • Proven experience editing a wide range of content-short form and long form, podcast, promos, and event recaps.
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end filmmaking process, from pre-production through final color and sound.
  • Proven ability in visual storytelling, cinematic composition, story pacing, and emotional tone.
  • Ability to direct talent (staff, volunteers, or non-actors) with empathy and clarity.
  • Basic motion graphics or After Effects experience.
  • Understanding of Sony, RED, and Blackmagic camera systems.
  • Excellent file management and project organization skills.
  • Willingness to receive feedback and improve iteratively.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in film or video production (directing, shooting, and editing).
  • Proficiency with camera systems, lighting design, and production workflows.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments.
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-oriented under pressure.
  • Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the church.

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants must submit a current portfolio website that includes an updated reel and links to past work. For each project, clearly note the role you played in the production (e.g., director, cinematographer, editor). We want to see a range across short form, long form, podcast, promos, and event recaps.

Time Commitment

  • Full-time, up to 40 hours per week - must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays
