POSITION: Assistant Venue Manager, Filmmaker Lounge - New York Film Festival

DEPARTMENT: Events

LOCATIONS: New York, New York

TERM: Full-Time; Seasonal August 19th, 2026 - October 11th, 2026

RATE: $26/Hour

REPORTS TO: Director of Events




JOB OVERVIEW


The Assistant Manager’s primary objective will be the ongoing management of the Filmmaker Lounge, an event space. This seasoned events professional will oversee the staffing (both volunteers and vendors) of the space to ensure that guests enjoy the best possible experience while attending the festival. They will also have a hand in any and all events and activations that occur in this space. The Assistant Manager reports to the Director of Events.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES


  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Filmmaker Lounge including:

    • Oversee daily Lounge lists and special access to the venue.

    • Act as the ‘Host’ of the Filmmaker Lounge, greeting and engaging with all guests.

    • Liaise directly with the restaurant management and their team to make sure the space is clean, service is prompt, and all events meet with both partner and NYFF Standards.

    • Train, schedule, and manage all delegated volunteers and special staff required to operate the space;

    • Create and track inventory for all donated product and sponsor materials;

    • Work closely with the Director of Events and Coordinator, Events to ensure seamless integration of the Lounge with the rest of the venue.

    • Participate in planning meetings and walkthroughs leading up to the festival as needed.

    • Provide daily reports on venue status during the festival.

  • Work closely with the Director of Events to establish and maintain standards for Filmmaker Lounge operations and activations during NYFF.

  • Work directly with the venue’s catering services team on special F&B requests, estimates, and invoices.

  • Coordinate any special activations and events (ie private seating, special catering, guest lists, etc) required in the Filmmaker Lounge throughout the festival.

  • Attend volunteer manager training sessions and participate in planning and team assessments as needed.

  • Create and submit a seasonal staff wrap report.


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED


  • 4+ years event and hospitality experience

  • Professional, friendly, and welcoming, demeanor, attire, and ideally proficiency with databases and event management software (Zkipster, Wordfly, Eventival)

  • Comfortable with Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Forms)

  • Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a larger team

  • Ability to work late nights, evenings, and weekends during the festival

  • NYFF conducts all of its events in person. While some hybrid work can be accommodated, staff are expected to report onsite during the festival.
