Job Description
Under the direct supervision of theManager of Government Affairsas task supervisor,the Student Workerfor the Office of Government and Community Engagement will have the opportunity toassistthe development and implementation of the University's governmental engagement program and how it cultivates and enhances the University's relationships at the federal, state and the local government levels.The student workerwill have the opportunity to assist with outreach, communication,GOTV campaigns,andevent planning, focusing on strategic government and community engagement. This includes organizingmeetings, workshops, and events, as well as monitoringlocal government changesand preparing communications for key stakeholders and elected officials.TheStudentWorkerwill learn and support strategic initiatives, events, and advocacy efforts related to higher education priorities.

Required Qualifications
Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student at the University of Nevada, Reno during theFall'26 semester
An intermediateknowledge of local, state, and federal government structure
Proficiencyusing Outlook andformatting documents in Microsoft Word and Excel, and PowerPoint
Must have a driver's license and personal transportation
Preferred Qualifications
Desire to learn about the Government Affairs andthe community and advocacy process
Individual should be comfortable with both internal-research and external-networking portions of this position
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn new tasks
Flexibility and creative with project instructions
Schedule
Applicants must be available for work during our office hours of 8-5 PM,
Monday-Friday, and must work at least 3 hoursin a givenshift.
Some availability on weekends for events is preferable.
During the Nevada Legislative Session,role would shift most days to be in Carson City office.
