We combine precision construction practices with advanced agronomic expertise to create safe, high-performing, and sustainable playing environments. Our team is driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and delivering a best-in-class client experience.

The Role
We're looking for an experienced Civil Engineer who is passionate about innovative design, problem solving, and seeing projects come to life in the field. If you enjoy collaborating with a talented team, tackling unique site challenges, and designing high-performance sports facilities that will be used for years to come, we'd love to meet you.

The Civil Engineer is responsible for leading the civil engineering design and technical execution of athletic field and sports facility construction projects from concept through completion. This role combines engineering expertise with project coordination, client collaboration, and construction support to ensure every project meets SCG's high standards for quality, safety, functionality, and performance.

Working closely with our Design, Operations, Project Management, and Sales teams, the Civil Engineer will develop innovative solutions that transform complex site conditions into championship-caliber facilities.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate with a high-performing project team committed to delivering the SCG Experience on every project.
  • Design and prepare civil engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents for sports field and athletic facility projects.
  • Lead site design efforts including grading, drainage, utility coordination, erosion and sediment control, and overall site development.
  • Prepare permit packages and coordinate with local, state, and regulatory agencies throughout the approval process.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and develop stormwater management designs and SWPPP documentation.
  • Develop project scopes, engineering budgets, and project schedules while balancing quality, efficiency, and client expectations.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Project Management, Sales, and Construction teams to ensure seamless project execution from design through construction.
  • Provide engineering support during construction by responding to field questions, reviewing design modifications, and helping solve site challenges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, municipalities, and project stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry trends, engineering standards, and evolving sports field technologies.
  • Support the Director of Design with strategic initiatives and special engineering projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit and other applicable engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utilities, stormwater management, and site development.
  • Experience preparing engineering plans, technical specifications, permit applications, and construction documentation.
  • Exceptional project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal engineering and environmental regulations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing athletic fields, sports complexes, parks, or recreational facilities.
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Experience with Agtek is a plus.
  • Experience preparing SWPPPs and stormwater management reports.
  • Experience coordinating with regulatory agencies and permitting authorities.
  • Leadership experience managing engineering projects or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Passion for athletics, sports construction, or creating world-class recreational facilities.

Benefits

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability Insurance
  • 401(k) with generous company match
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off
