Position Summary:
The Event Operations Staff position is a part-time role supporting the concert experience and day to day operations at the San Diego Symphony's events and performances held in Jacobs Music Center, The Rady Shell, and other venues where the San Diego Symphony performs.
Reporting to the Director, Event Operations & Security, this position is responsible for helping to set up vibrant performance venues and providing a positive guest experience reflective of the San Diego Symphony's values. Event Operations Staff are responsible for setting up and breaking down of the venue, complying with health, safety, and ADA requirements, and delivering a high-quality and responsive customer service experience at 150+ events annually. This position is an integral part of a team that provides an exceptional cultural experience in keeping with the San Diego Symphony, where exceptional service is paramount.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:

  • Exemplify positive and engaging customer service characteristics in all interactions with patrons, artists, volunteers, and fellow co-workers.
  • Participate in the set-up, execution, and break-down of all shows and events at The Rady Shell and Jacobs Music Center.
  • Assist patrons with disabilities and guests with safe, efficient, and effective transportation via shuttle or wheelchair in a timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with other departments and team members via two-way radios.
  • Work with Security officers to maintain access control to performance areas and assist patrons at all security check points, including ticket scanning, line management, and crowd control measures.
  • Distribute event materials to patrons as needed.
  • Provide guest and patrons parking instructions and assist all clients parking in the venues' priority lots with security traffic team.
  • Assist with merchandise sales of Symphony items and guest artist merchandise.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Customer service experience.
  • Enthusiasm and positive attitude with an engaging personality and exceptional communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiar with touchscreen smart phone devices and app navigation.
  • Flexible availability is a must, including being able to work during matinee, evening, and weekend performances.
  • Ability to stand for varying periods of time and work outdoors in varying weather conditions; such requirements to be performed either with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Strong ability to work well with others in a team environment.
General Work Requirements:
  • Available to work a demanding and flexible schedule supporting employees who often work long hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Able to pick up, move, and carry a minimum of 45 lbs.

Pay Rate: $17.75/hr
