Job description

LOCATION OF POSITION: Fairport, NY 14450; Curriculum, Instruction and Professional Development

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-Month Position, Full-Time 

START DATE: On or about September 1, 2026

SALARY RANGE: $100,000-$115,000 per school year
*Actual Salary is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator of Curriculum, Instruction, and Professional Learning reports directly to the Director of Instruction and Career Pathways, while coordinating with the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Programs, Director of Special Education & Student Services, Principals, and Department Coordinators. This position will have supervisory responsibility of the department Assistant Coordinator, Instructional Specialists, the Teacher Center Director and clerical staff. The focus of this position is the development and implementation of New York State initiatives, including New York Inspires, as well as ensuring curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning are aligned with state expectations, emerging educational priorities, and the diverse needs of students and staff.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coordinates with the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, the Director of Instruction and Career Pathways, and the Director of Special Education & Student Services to determine and develop current and anticipated professional development needs throughout Monroe One BOCES.

  2. Coordinates professional learning opportunities and structures that support continuous improvement, instructional excellence, and the implementation of Monroe One BOCES priorities across all programs and services.

  3. Supervises and supports the Instructional Specialists in the planning, delivery, and evaluation of professional development and instructional support provided to Monroe One BOCES.

  4. Maintains oversight of the department budget; manages purchasing and resource allocations; and ensures fiscal practices are aligned with Monroe One BOCES priorities.

  5. Develops, coordinates, and supports professional learning structures, including professional learning communities (PLCs), instructional coaching, curriculum development teams, mentoring, and other job-embedded learning opportunities.

  6. Monitors, interprets, and supports the implementation of New York State Education Department regulations, guidance, and mandates.

  7. Provides leadership and support for instructional practices across Monroe One BOCES internal programs, ensuring alignment with evidence-based practices, student needs, organizational goals, and regulatory requirements.

  8. Collaborates with program administrators and instructional staff to identify instructional priorities, design targeted professional learning and support the implementation of effective teaching and learning practices.

  9. Monitors emerging trends, research, and state initiatives related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning to inform organizational practices and planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. New York State Certification as a School District Administrator or School District Leader.

  2. At least five years' experience as a classroom teacher required.

  3. Prior experience as an Administrator preferred.

  4. Prior experience planning and delivering Professional Development required.

  5. Prior experience developing curriculum and modifying curriculum for students with disabilities required.

  6. Literacy and/or special education teaching experience preferred.

  7. Knowledge of assessment construction.

  8. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  9. Strong technology skills.

  10. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are required.

  11. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
