Job description

Occupational Medical Director (Physician) Caduceus is supporting the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) to provide Occupational Health services at their Western Currency Facility. The Occupational Medical Director serves as the senior clinical authority, providing oversight, medical guidance, and direct patient care in a workplace health environment.Provide emergency and non-emergency medical services, support medical surveillance programs, participate in preventive health and wellness initiatives, maintain accurate documentation and reporting, and support surge or emergency response operations as required. Place of performance:Bureau of Engraving and Printing 9000 Blue Mound Rd, Fort Worth, TX, 76131 Schedule Hours: This is a part-time position, Working Hours shall not exceed 840 hours annually.

*Position supports a 24/5 operational health unit and may require periodic availability across shifts for consultation, oversight, or emergent situations. Requirements: Must have adequate background and knowledge in the prevention of occupational diseases (shall be certified in occupational health or have 3-5 yrs. experience in occupational health).

The physician must have a Doctorate degree in medicine (MD), be licensed to practice medicine in the Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and preferably be trained in Occupational Medicine. The doctor must have proficiency in use of the EKG and must be proficient in the interpretation of any other tests provided in the Heath Unit or referred out by the Health Unit. The doctor must be able to suture.

Works with web-based computer systems, medical software, Occupational Health and Safety software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite software. Duties and Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following: Support pre-employment, psychological, and fitness-for-duty evaluation services as required, including coordination, review, and clinical input. Serves in all aspects as WCF Occupational Medical Director.

Serves as the Medical Director and as a consultant to BEP management on all matters regarding occupational medicine and other matters outlined herein. Assist with all workers’ compensation cases. Provides clinical medicine services, involving the performance of diagnostic and preventive health care, including physical examination and emergency treatment, as appropriate, as well as preventive health screening programs, occupational health surveillance examinations, health counseling, etc.

Evaluates and render opinions regarding the medical aspects of fitness for duty exams and all worker’s compensation cases. As needed. Occasionally, the doctor may be asked to conduct a peer-to-peer phone call for work and non-work-related illnesses and injuries to advise of the agencies light and limited duty program.

The medical director will assess medical for work and non-work-related illnesses and injuries to determine if the agency may be able to offer the employee a light or limited duty assignment. Evaluates health services provided by the BEPHU and make recommendations to the COR about changes in service, as appropriate. Provides medical and administrative support, as appropriate, to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) staff in connection with the BEP EAP (i.e.

for alcohol abuse, drug abuse, emotional stress, etc.). Serves as a member of BEP committees formed to determine BEP policy that may require input from the Medical Director. The doctor must also serve as the BEP representative in obtaining and/or assessing medical information from physicians to reconcile OWCP cases.

Draft articles related to occupational health in the EHS Newsletter. Draft policies, guidelines, and procedures, and/or review and comment on existing policies and procedures as needed. Accompany a nurse on emergency calls outside of the Health Unit, when available.

Monitor all mailboxes relating to health concerns declared by the local, state, or federal Government for Washington, DC, and Fort Worth, TX. facilities. This includes responding to questionnaires, via email and phone calls, on all 3 shifts.

Must take Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) training every 5 years. This certification allows the Medical Director to review audiograms, determine work-relatedness of hearing loss, follow up work related to hearing loss, and manage audiometric databases. Must take the Occupational Medicine Board Certification.

This certification allows the Medical Director to practice as a board-certified occupational medicine physician. There’s a certain number of hours that must be completed every 10 years. Must take the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Spirometry training program (16 hours every 5 years).

This training allows the Medical Director to review and interpret spirometry tests (Pulmonary Function Test). Refer patients to outside medical care when treatment exceeds on-site capabilities. #CB
