This job is in Boulder, CO - Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver. Due to the nature of our work, full-time in-person work is required.

As an Embedded Software Engineer - Level 2 or Principal Embedded Software Engineer Level 3, you will be responsible for the design, development, documentation, testing, deployment, and debugging of software applications. This includes researching, identifying, and implementing solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary software problems.
Seeking candidates who find satisfaction in working on challenging and diverse assignments in collaborative settings across all levels.
This requisition may be filled at a higher level based on the qualifications listed below.
This requisition may be filled at either an Embedded Software Engineer - Level 2 or a Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Level 3.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Embedded Software Engineer - Level 2: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0-2 years of experience.
  • Principal Embedded Software Engineer - Level 3: Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of experience, or a PhD. and 1 year of experience.
  • Modern C++ (v20 preferred)
  • Python
  • Linux
  • OOP Experience
  • Containerization Tool Experience (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker products, Podman, etc.)
  • Embedded Hardware and Software Exposure (Versal, Zynq, Ryzen, Xilinx, Blue Marble or Innoflight hardware and FreeRTOS, Zephyr or VxWorks software specific experience is a plus!)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs (only if needed)
  • Applicants must have an active in-scope U.S. Government issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start; with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI (TS/SCI) security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pipeline Dev Experience - CI/CD Experience (Jenkins, Gitlab etc.)
  • Agile Development Exposure
  • C++ Templating/Templating Concepts

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
