What You Do

Provide leadership to the paint lines through clearly established two-way communication regarding goals and actions by use of Floor Management Systems, ensuring alignment of paint activities to support business plan priorities, leading production improvement strategies, technology advances and providing leadership to group leaders and team leaders, fostering their development and the development of the paint team members.
As a part of the above, and on an ongoing basis will also:

  • Implement identified trainings. Ensure trainings up to date and effective through "genchi genbutsu" (go see for yourself)
  • Establish strong team member relations, at all levels and provide support for people development, coaching and mentoring with a focus on teamwork and inclusion
  • Collaborate with international team members from Mazda and Toyota or, other customers
  • Create production improvement strategies relative to KPI achievement and support Group Leaders through Team Members in translating those strategies into concrete action plans by use of Floor Management Systems
  • Manage shop safety program and manage timely implementation of countermeasure to resolve problems
  • Lead Strategic Planning for sustainable daily operations
  • Ensure alignment of activities to support the business plan
  • Share information and communicate goals
  • Lead Takt-time Change planning, line rebalancing, trials, and training activity
  • Introduce new models/model changes as directed
  • Create group leader development plans and coach the team members
  • Support introduction of new paint technologies when directed
  • Approve standardize work instruction for each paint production process
  • Ensure daily process quality and coordinate activity with the team to improve paint quality
  • Promote problem solving activities within and outside of the department
  • Lead activity to eliminate production bottle necks and/or chronic downtime
  • Identify waste in paint processes and implement activities to improve efficiency
  • Cultivate a workforce that is representative of Diversity and Inclusion initiative
  • Ability to work rotating shifts
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the department
  • Ability to work outside of typical business hours and travel as needed (domestically and internationally)


What You Bring

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years' supervisory experience in paint (preferably automotive manufacturing)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Knowledge of automotive paint shop and associated processes.
  • Proficiency in cross functional, cross company, and cross-sectional paint processes.
  • Knowledge of PLC's
  • Familiarity with robots (Kawasaki or Fanuc preferred)

What Will Set You Apart

  • 5+ years' supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing (paint)
  • Experience managing cost performance, planning, target-setting, technical knowledge of paint equipment and paint material
  • Plant level leadership skills
  • Budget planning experience (to include both operating and capital budgets).
  • Supervisory and team member development experience
