Job description

Medical Director - Full-time

Location: Diamond Springs, CA

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed as a Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy under the provision of the California Business and Professions Code.

  • Board Certified in Hospice and/or Palliative Care and/or demonstrated knowledge and skills in medical management of advanced irreversible disease.

  • Possess a controlled substances registration certificate with state and federal authorities.

  • Possess an unencumbered California Driver's License, auto insurance, and a dependable automobile.

  • Maintain current CPR Certification.

  • Not excluded from participating in the Medicare program.

Job Description

  • Provide medical direction adhering to Medicare, federal, and state statutes that govern the provision of services.

  • Review patients' medical eligibility for hospice services to ensure the plan of care is in line with program policies and procedures.

  • Review necessary data from referral sources to validate the diagnosis and life-limiting prognosis.

  • Perform face-to-face encounters within thirty days of benefit certification periods and attest to the encounter.

  • Consult with attending physicians and clinical staff to ensure pain and symptom management is accomplished effectively and expeditiously.

  • Supervise Associate Medical Directors and Nurse Practitioners, including recruiting and evaluation.

  • Facilitate collaboration with the attending physician to ensure the patient receives care that meets their needs.

  • Attend and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, assisting in the development and implementation of the plan of care.

  • Serve as a medical liaison and resource in providing clinical education to the Interdisciplinary Team and Physicians.
