Users can tailor and order comprehensive marketing materials, including direct mail, both digital and offset printing, custom packaging, and more. Our services cater to hundreds of national brands across real estate, professional services, franchises, and healthcare sectors.

We are looking for a Database Administrator who can take on a role larger than a traditional DBA role, who can be responsible for managing our MariaDB and Postgres database clusters, automating deployment of schema updates, deploying database server upgrades, managing replication and backup processes, identifying and solving performance issues. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Database Systems, in-depth understanding of performance tuning of databases, and a good understanding of running database servers on Linux with familiarity with Scripting and Docker to automate their management. They should also have good communication and interpersonal skills, be able to provide guidance to developers on the usage of databases. The ideal candidate really values their own work, ensures their solutions are robust, keeps the user impact in mind and aims to deliver complete solutions.

In this position, you will:

  • Understand existing database architecture of both existing MariaDB and Postgres installs
  • Review and upgrade our current replication and backup processes
  • Support the company’s data needs by building reports on reporting platforms
  • Establish a regular cadence for database performance review and optimization
  • Manage and enhance existing data retention processes
  • Communicate with stakeholders to establish database standards
  • Identify and address security issues with the databases, using well-defined roles
  • Establish a regular cadence for database updates
  • Participate in the process of identifying and addressing systemic errors
  • Perform root cause analysis of errors and resolve technical issues
  • Work closely with DevOps and Developers for system troubleshooting and maintenance

This job description outlines the primary responsibilities of the position. Employees may be required to perform any other duties required as assigned by management to meet the needs of the organization.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have the following:

  • Minimum four years of experience administering both MariaDB (or MySQL) and Postgres
  • In-depth knowledge of database query planning and transaction mechanisms, with experience in complex (multi-page) query optimization
  • Minimum 2 years of experience building, deploying and managing Postgres and MySQL compatible AWS RDS instances.
  • Working knowledge of Linux and a scripting language like Python or Bash
  • Problem-solving attitude and exposure to troubleshooting tools on Linux OS, Network issues etc...
  • Collaborative team spirit
  • Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience with Ubuntu distro
  • MSSQL experience a plus
  • Experience configuring, deploying, and managing Docker containers
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar
  • Working knowledge of orchestration tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
  • Ability to research, plan, and implement solutions that may be outside of your current knowledge
  • Highly motivated
