Director, Clinical Pharmacy Strategy - Medical Drugs

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 3 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. The Director Clinical Pharmacy Strategies- Medical will oversee medical specialty pharmacy programs and be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and developing strategies related to medical drug management. Responsibilities include evaluating existing programs, adapting strategies to evolving market conditions, implementing new approaches, and leading execution through completion.

The role requires balancing strategic vision with operational execution while leading a team responsible for solutions supporting medical pharmacy programs. The individual must effectively communicate with senior stakeholders and provide leadership during ongoing organizational changes.

How you will make an impact:

  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for the Trend Oversight & Reporting, Clinical Program Maintenance, and Pharmacy Mandate Execution & Client Implementation functions.

  • Establishes and executes clinical intervention and programs.

  • Evaluates, maintains, and implements clinical programs.

  • Oversees trend analysis, reporting, and performance insights to support business and clinical decision-making.

  • Provides leadership for client implementation, drug list updates and clinical program changes while partnering with operational and client-facing teams to ensure successful execution.

  • Supports enterprise accreditation processes.

  • Provides Request for Proposal (RFP) support and contributes to business growth and client retention.

  • Manages departmental budget and supports clinical product growth and operational efficiency.

  • Hires, develops, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports and team leads while fostering collaboration across multiple functional areas.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires a PharmD, RPh or MPh and minimum of 5 years of managed care experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Current unrestricted Pharmacist license in applicable state(s) required.

  • Requires BS in Pharmacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Driving the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of clinical programs supporting medications covered under the medical benefit.

  • Deep expertise in specialty pharmaceuticals, medical drug management, and the evolving Rx-as-Medical landscape

  • Demonstrated effective influence across cross-functional stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and leading initiatives that span multiple business areas while driving alignment across enterprise partners.

  • Strong project leadership, process optimization, and change management capabilities are essential to successfully execute strategic initiatives and deliver measurable business value.

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience (direct or matrixed) with a strong focus on trust and transparency, talent development, effective delegation, associate empowerment, clear communication, sound decision-making, and the ability to build strong team connection and recognition practices.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $147,668.00 to $279,792.00.
