This opportunity is open due to the retirement of a long-standing Regional Safety Director, creating a rare leadership transition within a high-performing team. The Role
We are seeking a Regional Safety Director to lead safety strategy and execution across multiple states in the Our client Our client region. This role sits on the senior leadership team and serves as a strategic partner to operations, ensuring safety is embedded into every phase of project delivery-from preconstruction through field execution. The ideal candidate will be able to elevate systems and processes while respecting and building upon an already strong safety culture.
Core Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Strategy: Lead the regional safety vision and strategy across all operations
  • Safety Integration: Partner with executive leadership to integrate safety into business performance
  • Team Development: Mentor and develop a team of 25+ safety professionals
  • Accountability: Drive accountability and ownership of safety across all levels
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with OSHA and state-specific regulations across Our client Our client
  • Incident Oversight: Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
  • Metrics Analysis: Analyze key metrics (TRIR, DART, EMR) to drive continuous improvement
  • Audit Management: Manage audits, inspections, and regulatory interactions
  • Field Operations: Conduct regular site visits across active heavy civil projects
  • Risk Mitigation: Partner with field leadership to proactively identify and mitigate risk
  • Safety Planning: Support preconstruction with risk assessments and safety planning
  • Training Programs: Design and implement enterprise-level safety training programs
  • Training Compliance: Ensure workforce and subcontractor compliance with training standards
  • Safety Initiatives: Lead company-wide safety initiatives and leadership engagement efforts
  • Incident Management: Oversee all incident reporting, documentation, and follow-up
  • Stakeholder Interface: Interface with insurance carriers, legal teams, and regulatory agencies
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned
  • Subcontractor Evaluation: Evaluate and manage subcontractor safety performance
  • Compliance Reviews: Support prequalification and ongoing compliance reviews
Candidate Profile
  • Experience: 10+ years of safety leadership experience in heavy civil construction
  • Leadership Role: 6+ years in a regional or multi-site leadership role
  • Project Expertise: Deep expertise in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, utilities, earthwork, marine)
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of OSHA and Our client Our client safety regulations
  • Influence Skills: Proven ability to influence executive leadership and field operations
  • System Enhancement: Experience enhancing systems, processes, and safety culture at scale
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Safety, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
  • Certifications: Certifications such as CSP, CHST, or equivalent (preferred)
