Position Location
This position is located on site in Annapolis Junction, MD.
Job Overview
The Electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of electric energy. Work involves installing or repairing any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment; working from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment, and using measuring and testing instruments. The Electrician facilitates and participates in outages.
Pay Rate: $42.35 / hour
Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
  • Perform electrical maintenance at operating voltages less than 600 volts.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams in order to locate failures.
  • Troubleshoot and identify root causes of various types of electrical failures.
  • Plan and layout work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
  • Identify and document any field alterations, as needed.
  • Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines.
  • Coordinate with other trade and warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Submit requests and participate in outages.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance.
  • Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
  • Participate in periodic stock inventories and prepare material requisitions for replacement items.
  • Facilitate third party vendors related to electrical tasks.
  • Safety operate customer and company vehicles and equipment.
  • Perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
  • Support other department staff as needed or directed.
  • Assist other trade groups in daily operations where required.
  • Adhere to the established company safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including supporting CMMS and other departments.

Job Requirements
Mandatory:
  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • Five (5) years' experience in the commercial electrical service and maintenance trade.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent (NITC) in good standing.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical tools and instruments.
  • Demonstrate ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls and equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with basic mathematical functions as required.
  • Medically and physically able to wear a respirator.
  • Able to pass pre-hire background and drug screen.
  • S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the required intelligence community level clearance.
  • Valid Drivers' license with acceptable driving record.

Preferred:
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Possess the required security clearance.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and team lift 75 pounds.
