Monday-Friday: 2:00-10:30 PM

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Denver has been serving Northern Colorado since 1927. We serve tens of thousands of people each year in seven ministries: Marisol Services, Early Childhood Education, Shelter Services, Catholic Charities Housing, St. Raphael Counseling, Family, Kinship, and Senior Services, and Parish & Community Engagement.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

A Safety & Security Associate at Catholic Charities:

  • Politely welcomes, greets, and assists all residents and visitors, providing routine information or directing them to the appropriate staff/program.
  • Conducts internal and external rounds throughout the facility to monitor and ensure safety.
  • Monitors surveillance cameras and public areas to ensure no improper conduct or unauthorized persons are inside the facility and/or on agency property.
  • Adheres to Agency confidentiality and HIPAA expectations.
  • Responds and assists as appropriate to any emergencies in the building or on the grounds.
  • Follows procedures and guidelines outlined in operating guidelines manual(s) to help maintain structure and order in the living environment 
  • Accurately and promptly completes all required documentation/data, including entering relevant participant information in daily logs before ending shift assignment.
  • Maintains current knowledge of ongoing events and changes by reading incident logs 
  • Enforces property rules uniformly and consistently.
  • Responds appropriately to needs and crises, such as mediating basic interpersonal problems between residents and summoning emergency personnel
  • Communicates with other staff to resolve problems with individual participants.
  • Completes necessary records and reports, including on the computer or manually, as directed.
  • Provides appropriate information and referrals.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed on property developments.
  • Supports, promotes, and adheres to Catholic Charities' vision, mission, values, and Code of Ethics.
  • Reflects Catholic Charities' commitment to treating all persons with dignity and respect.
  • Uses creativity and innovation in program development and service delivery.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and agency information.
  • Regular and predictable attendance.
  • Completes security guard training and licensing.
  • Completes all mandatory trainings and those required by the agency or supervisor.
  •  Employees may be required to work at or provide temporary coverage at other shelter locations based on operational and business needs.  

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with people in crisis
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful and/or emergencies
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
  • Basic knowledge of word processing and typing ability to enter participant information 
  • Knowledge of the service population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the participant population. 
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse participant base.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college or technical school preferred; and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A current City & County of Denver Security Guard License or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. 

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary $25.00 per hour. $1.00 bilingual differential available. 

Schedule: Shift is full-time: Monday-Friday: 2:00-10:30PM

Training: We provide a robust training curriculum that will support our employees throughout their careers. Training provided within the first year of employment includes: De-escalation & Safety; Mental Health First Aid; Substance Abuse & Mental Health; Human Trafficking; Trauma-Informed Care; and many more.

  • Extensive Paid Time Off (4 weeks accrual for new employees - increasing based on tenure), promoting work-life balance.
  • 15 Paid Holidays annually (shelters are 24/7, so if a holiday is worked, holiday pay is included.)
  • Sabbatical Leave Program: Employees who have completed seven years of continuous full-time service are eligible for a paid sabbatical leave to support rest, renewal, and professional or personal growth. Eligible staff may take 4 weeks of sabbatical leave. 
  • 403b Retirement Plan with Agency contribution of 4% & match up to 2% of annual compensation.
  • Choice of 3 PPO Medical Plans (90% of employees' and 75% of dependents' premiums are paid by the Agency), Dental, & Vision starting the 1st day of the month following start date.
  • May be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through Federal Student Loans, and many more benefits.

**Part-time employees (20-29 hours per week) also receive paid annual leave, company-paid holidays, and a 403b retirement plan with agency contribution and match.
