The Psychiatric Institute of Washington is seeking a talented and dynamic Director of Business Development to join our team of dedicated healthcare professionals!

The Psychiatric Institute of Washington provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PIW is a 130 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PIW has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare. Situated in the safe, historical Tenleytown neighborhood, PIW is one mile from the Tenleytown Metro stop and within walking distance to local cafes and restaurants.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Business Development oversees the provision of Sales, Marketing, and Customer Service activities within the Marketing Department and government relations. The Director of Business Development is responsible for achieving the desired utilization of the organizations continuum of care through the effective application of marketing principles and methods. As a member of the facility management team, the Director of Business Development is actively involved in strategic planning, sales and marketing management, identification of potential growth opportunities, future projects, changing in programing/protocols, recruitment and retention.

The Director of Business Development is responsible for the facilitys strategic marketing plan, enhancing the facilitys brand/image, management of all sales and business development activities. The Director maintains an active and productive working relationship with internal departments and communicates issues or potential problems proactively, especially with CEO and Director of Admissions/Intake.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically analyzes and designates target markets for territory/account assignments, considering the strengths and weaknesses of account managers. Ensures that expertise and personal styles of team members are insightfully matched to prospective referral sources.
  • Provides short- and long-term market forecasts and reports by directing market research collection, analysis, and interpretation of market data.
  • Leads and oversees the development and growth of profitable new business opportunities. Develops and implements marketing strategies to assist the facility in meeting business objectives.
  • Develops and maintains comprehensive knowledge of each of the facilitys programs and services, including Inpatient and Outpatient programs, the assessment process and transportation services.
  • Proactively identifies trends and changes in the marketplace and demand for specific niche programs and incorporates these findings into product development and marketing strategies.
  • Advocate with the DC Council on issues of importance to PIW and confer with officials of DC government concerning the interests of PIW and the functional and financial impact of proposed legislation; suggest modifications as appropriate.
  • Represent PIW to appropriate organizations or coalitions such as DCHA, DC Chamber of Commerce and others to establish and maintain contacts to aid and foster government relations and business development activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business Development, Marketing or related field
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Marketing or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in health care; behavioral health experience a plus
  • Ability to assess new business opportunities and nurture and expand existing business relationships
  • Demonstrated excellence in building, fostering and growing client relationships through anticipating needs and diligent follow up
  • Persuasive and effective presentation skills
  • Experience with and knowledge of Microsoft Office software
