Summary:
The role of a Specialist-Commercial Optimization in the organization is vital towards ensuring we meet the Commercial Optimization goal of filling our Intrastate pipeline system with the highest return possible while upholding our contractual commitments.  The role consists of maintaining spreadsheets designed to capture the executed value of the services provided to power generators, city gates, transportation customers, purchases, and sales.  The Specialist role will also bridge the gap between our nomination system, Statement of Operating Conditions, and the language negotiated and executed in our Agreements by monitoring zonal receipt and delivery maximums, individual meter maximums, Interruptible rights on Firm Agreements, Authorized Overrun, alternate dates for purposes of Priority of Service, imbalance fees and tolerances, contracts in Evergreen status, and the waiving of fees.  In the end, the job will ensure our ability to maintain system reliability, contribute towards accuracy in both accounts receivable and accounts payable, strengthen the relationships with our customers, and utilize their knowledge of the physical system reality to provide adequate support for accurate tracking and billing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret new and existing transportation, purchase, and/or sales agreements.
  • Maintain and update a list of customers with no notice interruptible pricing.
  • Work alongside contracts and the Commercial team to distribute no notice interruptible pricing to specified customers.
  • Create and maintain several comprehensive spreadsheets designed to capture the value associated with various services provided by the pipes.
  • Create and maintain tracking tools designed to ensure customers abide by the language contained within their executed agreements.
  • Direct communication with third party customers and act as our customer service representative.
  • Verifies volumes directly with operations, gas control, and/or measurement through monitoring SCADA and FlowCal.
  • Work closely with the Commercial team to provide back-up detail associated with new transportation, purchase, and/or sales proposals.
  • Verify accurate reflection of storage position associated with the utilization of third-party storage agreements.
  • Work closely with the Accounting team to ensure accurate invoicing of agreements and true-up when necessary.
  • Work closely with Business Analyst team to automate data collection and verify accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of Texas Intrastate pipeline system.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or experience in lieu of degree with a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2+ years directly related experience in either natural gas scheduling or other natural gas business activities of marketing or purchasing is required.
  • Working knowledge of Texas Intrastate pipeline infrastructure.
  • Effective time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable, well organized
  • Good organizational and planning skills are required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
     


 

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Associate/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 0-2 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
  • The Senior Specialist/Analyst level requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a high skill set in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Candidate preferably would have experience in SCADA, Tableau, and Quorum Products or Messenger Plus.
  • Background in Natural Gas service products, pipeline operations, pipeline scheduling and accounting.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, detail oriented.
  • Ability to organize, perform, and prioritize various functions in a fast-paced environment meeting time sensitive deadlines.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
