About the Role

American Additive Manufacturing, LLC is looking for a Quality & Metrology Technician to help ensure the precision, performance, and compliance of mission-critical additive manufactured components serving the Aerospace, Defense, Space, and Industrial markets.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving technical challenges, working with advanced inspection technologies, and making a direct impact on product quality. Approximately 80% of your time will be dedicated to quality assurance, inspection, metrology, and continuous improvement initiatives, while the remaining 20% will support manufacturing operations to help maintain production flexibility and meet customer delivery commitments.
Working within our AS9100-certified Quality Management System, you'll utilize state-of-the-art laser scanning equipment, industrial 3D printing technologies, and advanced metrology tools to ensure every part meets the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
Primary Responsibilities

Quality & Metrology (Approximately 80%)

  • Perform in-process, final, and AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAIs) of manufactured components.
  • Operate advanced laser scanning and metrology equipment to perform dimensional inspections, process validation, reverse engineering, and customer reporting.
  • Investigate quality issues and customer concerns using structured root cause analysis while leading corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), including implementation, documentation, and effectiveness verification.
  • Prepare inspection reports, FAI packages, Certificates of Conformance, and customer quality documentation. 
  • Support customer audits, source inspections, corrective actions, and quality inquiries.
  • Maintain controlled quality documentation in accordance with our AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Participate in internal quality audits, customer audits, and regulatory assessments.
  • Support calibration activities and Material Review Board (MRB) activities involving nonconforming material.
  • Analyze inspection data, monitor quality metrics, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
  • Partner closely with engineering and production teams to continuously improve manufacturing processes, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
Production (Approximately 20%)

  • Support additive manufacturing production operations through machine operation, post-processing, finishing, material handling, preventative maintenance, inventory management, and production scheduling as business needs require.
  • Perform basic equipment troubleshooting and assist with maintaining production equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe manufacturing environment while supporting Lean Manufacturing and 5S initiatives.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to safely perform hands-on inspection and manufacturing activities in a production environment.
  • Must qualify as a U.S. Person under applicable ITAR regulations.*
Preferred

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Quality, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in manufacturing quality, inspection, metrology, or additive manufacturing.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Experience performing AS9102 First Article Inspections.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with laser scanners, CMMs, FARO Arms, or metrology software (PolyWorks, VXinspect, Geomagic, or similar).
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.).
  • Experience managing controlled documentation within a Quality Management System.
  • Familiarity with statistical quality tools such as SPC, MSA, and process capability studies.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or equivalent) is a plus.
