Position Summary:

We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team, specializing in the repair and upkeep of our printing press equipment used in direct mail production. This role will focus on ensuring machines run efficiently, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous operation within our high-volume environment.
 

Primary Job Responsibilities:
  • Specialize in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of offset web press equipment used in direct mail production, including performing complex diagnostics, and component replacements to ensure peak performance.
  • Apply industry best practices to maximize uptime, reliability, and output quality of offset web press equipment, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues before they impact production.
  • Utilize CMMS software for preventative maintenance scheduling, detailed work orders, inventory tracking, and press system audits, ensuring all offset web press maintenance activities are documented and optimized for efficiency.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by supporting other commercial printing equipment as needed, leveraging transferrable skills in mechanical, electrical, and controls troubleshooting across facility systems.
  • Follow management system procedures, 5S, and Standard Work for offset web press operations, maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment while adhering to company quality standards.
  • Collaborate with press operators and production staff to share knowledge and provide hands-on training for offset web press preventative maintenance and troubleshooting methods.
  • Maintain accurate document control protocols for offset web press maintenance and operation records, ensuring compliance with safety and quality requirements and facilitating continuous improvement.
  • Participate in a rotating weekend on-call schedule for offset web press equipment support, responding promptly to urgent maintenance needs and ensuring minimal production disruption.
Qualifications:
  • Technical degree or working toward a degree in electrical, electronics, or mechanical fields preferred
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities
  • Hands-on experience with commercial printing presses
  • Solid understanding of how electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems interact
  • Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controls (PLC)
  • Previous experience maintaining printing, bindery, or mailing production equipment
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of safety protocols and of lock out tag out procedures to safeguard personnel and equipment.
  • Ownership of personal tools is required. Japs-Olson will repair or replace any tools that are damaged while in use on company equipment.
