Job description

The Center for Human Development, (CHD) is seeking dependable Direct Care Staff in the town of Springfield, MA.  Join our dedicated Direct Care Staff that work in a supportive residential environment for developmentally disabled adults living in a community-based group home. Many CHD Direct Care Staff have had previous experience as Home Health Aids, Personal Care Assistants, Certified Nursing Aids or even Caregivers to family members of their own.

Your role as a Direct Care Staff:

The Direct Care Staff works within the Agency’s team model, establishing open communication, support, and accountability among co-workers.  Providing a supportive residential environment for developmentally disabled adults living in a community-based group home.  Our goal is to provide an environment that encourages consumers to grow and to live as independently as possible. Some additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and maintaining personal hygiene.
  • Administering medications as needed (training provided)
  • Advocating for individuals in community settings
  • Build professional, supportive relationships with individuals, offering informal guidance with a person-centered approach while maintaining appropriate boundaries to ensure a respectful and safe environment.
  • Providing opportunities to optimize their independence

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to complete medication administration training. (MAP certification).
  • Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or behavioral complexities are highly encouraged to apply
  • All candidates must complete and pass background record screening process. 
  • Must have a vehicle for work use and current driver's license
  • Current First Aid, CPR and MAP certification preferred
  • Must be flexible to work a 2nd shift schedule, 3pm-11pm, that includes weekends
