Job description

Creative Dining Services is looking for a full-time Cook at Indiana University South Bend. The Cook works within the Dining Services Department to ensure that high quality, properly seasoned, nutritious food is being provided throughout the operation, in a fiscally responsible and safe manner. Works cooperatively as a valued member of the dining services team, assisting with any aspect of the dining services program necessary and helping to provide a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for everyone on the IUSB campus.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes for events, ensuring consistent quality, flavor, and presentation.
  • Collaborate with event planners and kitchen staff to design menus that meet client preferences, dietary needs, and budget.
  • Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control.
  • Coordinate cooking schedules to ensure all dishes are ready for service at the correct time.
  • Assist in setup and breakdown of catering stations, buffets, and plated service areas.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs to management.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Minimum of 2 years cooking experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred but not required
  • ServSafe Certification
