Job description

Overview

The Post Oak Hotel is seeking a Fine Dining Restaurant Server to join the only Forbes Five-Star Hotel in Texas. We hire passionate and professional colleagues who genuinely delight our guests through curated and authentic experiences.
A serverโ€™s primary responsibility is to ensure exceptional dining experiences for guests. A friendly and professional demeanor, attention to detail, and ability to multitask will contribute to the overall success of the establishment. 


Responsibilities
  • Greet guests and welcome them in a friendly manner
  • Take drink orders and follow policy regarding service of alcohol
  • Know the menu and be able to explain menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to guests
  • Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure all orders are prepared and delivered on time and together
  • Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, ensuring accuracy and good presentation, and timed so the entire table is served within a reasonable time frame
  • Check on guests during their meals to ensure satisfaction and address requests/concerns
  • Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and bring issues to management
  • Collaborate with fellow servers, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
  • Responsibilities include complying with all federal and state laws, including the FLSA tip regulations regarding tip reporting, sharing, and minimum wage requirements

Qualifications

  • One year of restaurant server or customer service is preferred. Previous Luxury or Forbes experience preferred. 
  • Strong multitasking and time management abilities. Knowledge of food and beverage menus, including dietary restrictions and allergies. Excellent communication skills. Basic math skills for handling payments and calculating tips. 
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
  • Physical demands: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis and prolonged extended periods of standing.
