You will take ownership of demanding assignments in power grid projects within the automotive industry. Your responsibilities will span diverse areas, with the specific tasks depending on client needs and your individual strengths. They will include some of the following but not all within the same project:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead and contribute to strategic projects in the transmission and distribution (T&D) domain, supporting clients in navigating complex grid challenges.
  • Conduct market research and industry studies, delivering actionable insights on trends, technologies, and regulatory developments.
  • Perform grid planning and power flow simulations, leveraging advanced modeling tools to support investment decisions and system optimization.
  • Develop and evaluate behind-the-meter (BTM) concepts, integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) into client strategies.
  • Support DER interconnection planning, ensuring compliance with technical standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technology assessments and contribute to the development of innovation strategies for grid modernization.
  • Advise on smart grid transitions, including digitalization, automation, and resilience improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for grid optimization and efficiency enhancement, balancing technical feasibility with economic impact.
  • Analyze and interpret norms, standards, codes, and regulations, translating them into strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Solve emerging challenges from both a technical and economic perspective, applying systems thinking and cost-benefit analysis.
  • Support business development activities, including client engagement, proposal development, and tailored solution design.
  • Contribute to the expansion of our energy & utility consulting portfolio, bringing fresh ideas and deep expertise.
  • Collaborate directly with clients in on-site and remote settings, fostering long-term partnerships and trust.
  • Manage projects with a focus on quality, timelines, and stakeholder alignment, ensuring successful delivery and client satisfaction.

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a comparable technical field. Additional coursework in business, economics, or energy policy is a plus.
    • You bring 3-7 years of experience in the energy and utility sector, ideally in roles involving grid strategy, planning, or regulatory consulting.
    • You possess in-depth technical knowledge of North American electric power systems, including both transmission and distribution networks.
    • You are well-versed in smart grid technologies, and understand their strategic implications for grid modernization and resilience.
    • You have experience with DER interconnection processes, and understand principles of grid planning, operation, and optimization.
    • You are proficient in modeling and simulation tools such as PSSE, MATLAB, CYME, or DigSilent PowerFactory, and can apply them to support strategic decision-making.
    • You are familiar with grid codes, regulatory frameworks, and industry standards, and can translate them into actionable insights for clients.
    • You understand the structure and dynamics of energy markets, and can assess how market mechanisms impact grid operations and investment strategies.
    • You have a project management mind-set to lead client projects.
    • You show strong problem-solving abilities and time management skills to help drive solutions.
    • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
