Overview

We are designing the grid of the future! 

EPE is in search of an Engineer with a background in EMT modelling and power system studies to join our growing Energy Resources team. In this role you will work closely with senior leadership to support our growth strategy and provide subject matter expertise both internally through coaching and developing staff as well as externally to our clients.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Electro-magnetic Transient (EMT) Studies: Perform power system studies such as subsynchronous resonance, control interaction, ferroresonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), insulation coordination, harmonic, transient recovery voltage (TRV), energization, lightning etc. Model Development: Develop local system EMT models. perform disturbance ride through model tuning and perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking. Steady State Studies: Perform steady state studies such as load flow and short circuit. Technology: Proficiency in power system modelling software such as the following or equivalents: PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, Digsilent Powerfactory, PSSE, ETAP, CYMCAP Compliance: Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CICRE. Client Engagement: Provide advisory support to generation, large load and merchant transmission developers. Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
Qualifications

Bring your passion, here's what's needed:

  • 2+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
  • Experience with control system tuning is a plus
  • Experience with HVDC system is a plus
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation
