What is digitization?

Digitization is the process of converting information from a physical format, such as paper documents, photographs, or analog recordings, into a digital format that can be stored, processed, and accessed electronically. This process often involves scanning, photographing, or using specialized equipment to create digital files. Digitization enables easier sharing, preservation, and retrieval of information, making it widely used in industries like libraries, archives, healthcare, and business. It also helps protect original materials from wear and tear by reducing the need for direct handling.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a digitization specialist, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Digitization Specialist, you need expertise in document handling, digital archiving, and data management, often supported by a relevant degree or experience in library science or information technology. Familiarity with scanning equipment, digital asset management systems (DAMS), and metadata standards such as Dublin Core is typically required. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective communication help ensure accuracy and smooth project workflows. These skills are vital for preserving information integrity, ensuring accessibility, and supporting the successful transition from physical to digital formats.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in digitization roles, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals working in digitization often encounter challenges such as handling fragile or outdated source materials, ensuring data accuracy during conversion, and managing large volumes of documents efficiently. Addressing these issues typically involves adopting best practices for document handling, leveraging advanced scanning and OCR technologies, and implementing thorough quality control processes. Collaboration with IT teams and archivists is also essential to ensure that digital assets are well-organized, securely stored, and easily accessible for future use.

A leading international media company, the group includes top-ranking sales and acquisitions division, Cineflix Rights, as well as production labels Buccaneer and C3 Media. Digital Originals Studio · Cineflix Productions

Build the Next Generation of Digital Franchises

Cineflix is launching a Digital Originals Studio — a lean, fast-moving team focused on creating formats built for today’s platforms.

We’re looking for a Senior Producer who lives and breathes digital — someone who can take an idea from concept to published content, quickly and efficiently, and build formats that grow into scalable franchises across YouTube, FAST, and beyond.

This is a foundational role with real ownership: the opportunity to shape both the content and the production model from the ground up.

About the Role

You are the first core creative hire for the Digital Originals Studio — owning content from concept through to publish.

This is a multi-hat role by design: you will pitch, write, produce, and oversee post on high-velocity, digital-first content. You’ll work closely with Digital, Rights, and platform teams to ensure content performs and scales.

You will have full ownership of execution, with strong influence on creative direction and format development.

The salary range for this role is 100,000-130,000CAD

What You’ll Do

  • Own concept-to-publish across the slate
Pitch, script, produce, edit, package, and publish content designed for digital platforms.
  • Develop scalable, high-ROI formats
Create concepts that work on YouTube first, with the potential to expand into FAST channels and international broadcast.
  • Drive YouTube-native storytelling
Shape pacing, hooks, retention, and narrative structure to build and hold audience attention.
  • Work closely with Digital and Rights teams
Use data (analytics, A/B testing, retention curves) to refine content and iterate quickly.
  • Collaborate with AI and Post teams
Partner with the AI Production Unit and Post when needed to enhance visuals, accelerate turnaround, and elevate final output.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong YouTube-native instinct — you understand what makes content perform
  • 5–7+ years producing digital-first content (YouTube, social series, FAST, or equivalent)
  • Proven ability to own projects end-to-end
  • Track record as a multi-hyphenate creator (producer, writer, editor, post oversight)
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work on lean budgets and timelines
  • Clear storytelling instincts with a strong sense of audience engagement

We don’t expect mastery of everything. Depth in one area, combined with strength across others, is highly valuable.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building or scaling a recurring format or franchise
  • Familiarity with monetization and distribution strategies across digital platforms
  • Exposure to TV production as a complementary background

Portfolio Expectations

  • A reel or selection of digital-first work you led end-to-end
  • A short breakdown of one project (concept → publish)
  • An example of a format or franchise you helped build (if applicable)
