Digital Technology Teacher

Department: Secondary Education / Career & Technical Education (CTE)
Location: Alexis I duPont High School
Reports To: Principal
 


Position Summary:

This Digital Technology Teacher will provide innovative instruction in emerging technology fields while collaborating with district leaders to design and implement a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) Digital Technology Cluster. The successful candidate will teach technology-focused electives, including courses in cybersecurity, cloud computing, computer networking, and gaming/esports, while helping develop comprehensive Programs of Study aligned to Delaware CTE requirements, industry standards, and workforce needs.

This position offers a unique opportunity to build a cutting-edge technology pathway that prepares students for high-demand careers and postsecondary opportunities in information technology and computer science fields.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned instruction in technology-related courses.
  • Teach courses in areas such as cybersecurity, cloud computing, computer networking, information technology, gaming, esports, and related technology topics.
  • Develop project-based learning experiences that mirror authentic industry practices.
  • Integrate industry-standard software, hardware, and emerging technologies into classroom instruction.
  • Utilize data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Foster student collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Create a classroom culture that promotes innovation, digital citizenship, professionalism, and ethical technology use.
  • Supervise and manage a technology lab and gaming/esports facility.
  • Serve on a district design team responsible for creating the Digital Technology CTE Cluster with programs of study in Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, and Computer Networking.
  • Assist in identifying curriculum frameworks, industry credentials, dual enrollment opportunities, and work-based learning experiences.
  • Align course content with Delaware Department of Education CTE requirements and labor market demands.
  • Establish partnerships with local businesses, technology organizations, and higher education institutions.
  • Advise student technology clubs, esports teams, competitions, or related extracurricular activities.
  • Support students in earning industry-recognized credentials and certifications.
  • Collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, counselors, and community partners.
  • All other relatable job duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Delaware teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Computer Networking, Education, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information technology systems and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, hands-on instruction.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Industry experience in cybersecurity, networking, cloud computing, systems administration, software development, or related technology fields.
  • Experience teaching computer science, information technology, or CTE courses.
  • Experience developing curriculum or educational programs.
  • Knowledge of Delaware CTE requirements and career pathways.
  • Industry certifications such as:
    • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+
    • Cisco CCNA
    • AWS Cloud Practitioner
    • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
    • Google Cloud Certifications
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) or similar credentials
