Digital Signage Content information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a digital signage content specialist?

To thrive as a Digital Signage Content Specialist, you need strong graphic design skills, an understanding of visual communication, and experience with digital media formats, typically supported by a degree in design or a related field. Proficiency with design software like Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems (CMS), and digital signage platforms such as Scala or BrightSign is essential. Creativity, attention to detail, and effective collaboration are standout soft skills in this role. These abilities are crucial to producing engaging, brand-consistent digital content that captures audience attention and meets organizational goals.

What is digital signage content?

Digital signage content refers to the multimedia messages, images, videos, or interactive elements displayed on digital screens in public or private spaces. This content is designed to inform, advertise, entertain, or engage viewers, and can be updated remotely and in real time. Effective digital signage content is tailored to the target audience, location, and purpose, often using specialized software to schedule and manage what appears on screens. It plays a key role in retail, transportation, hospitality, and corporate environments to convey timely and relevant information.

Both roles are essential in the digital signage industry but serve different functions in the content delivery process.

What are some common challenges faced when creating and managing content for digital signage networks?

One of the main challenges in digital signage content roles is ensuring that content remains timely, relevant, and engaging for diverse audiences. Coordinating with different departments, such as marketing and IT, to update and deploy content seamlessly across multiple screens can be complex. Additionally, adapting designs to various screen sizes and resolutions, while maintaining brand consistency, requires close attention to detail. Managing scheduling, monitoring playback, and troubleshooting technical issues are also regular parts of the job.

Job description

Sand Valley is a golf resort and community settled gently upon 12,000 acres of rugged, pre-historic sand dunes in central Wisconsin. Here, residents and guests will find six world-class golf courses built in harmony with the land: Sand Valley, Mammoth Dunes, Sandbox, The Lido, Sedge Valley, and Commons.  Founded in 2016 by brothers Michael and Chris Keiser, the resort is known for its friendly hospitality and a community of golf and outdoor enthusiasts who have been drawn to the raw beauty and serenity of the vast Wisconsin Wilderness.

Beyond premier golf, Sand Valley is a year-round celebration of all the outdoors from fat-tire biking, hiking, and kayaking to ice hockey, skating, or a guided cold plunge. The resort now features a 13,000-square-foot Tennis Center with 16 grass tennis courts and the twelfth Court Tennis facility in the United States. Alongside soul-stirring golf and outdoor exploration, Sand Valley offers a variety of savory dining venues showcasing globally inspired and rustic Wisconsin cuisine.

The Sand Valley team works together to create experiences of a lifetime by asking questions and sharing ideas. With authenticity and a hard-working attitude, Sand Valley helps guide guests through an immersive experience in Wisconsin's natural beauty and away from the demands of daily life.

Position Summary

As the Internal Communications Coordinator, you will strengthen connection and clarity across the organization by leading strategic internal and executive communications. You’ll help employees stay up to date on Sand Valley’s vision, goals, priorities, and key initiatives—while bringing our culture and employer brand to life through storytelling, collaboration, and consistent communications experiences.

This role partners closely with People & Culture and Marketing/Communications, working cross-functionally with leaders and teams throughout the resort. The ideal candidate is a skilled communicator and relationship-builder who can translate complex topics into clear, engaging messaging—and who’s energized by creating moments that connect, inspire, and reinforce a strong team culture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Create and implement internal communication plans that enhance engagement, connectivity, and company culture across all departments.
  • Produce high-quality communications that align with organizational priorities and themes, using the right format and channel for the audience (intranet, email, digital signage, print, toolkits, presentations, etc.).
  • Establish consistent internal editorial planning (content calendar, campaign planning, key message architecture) to ensure timely and coordinated communications.
  • Manage content for the company intranet and other internal communication channels—ensuring they are accurate, current, engaging, and easy to navigate.
  • Build templates and guidelines that improve consistency, efficiency, and quality across internal communications.
  • Maintain internal brand asset quality controls and support teams with approved messaging and resources.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to identify communication needs, define audiences, develop messages, and select channels/tactics to deliver effectively.
  • Partner with leadership to draft and deliver executive updates (talking points, announcements, all-hands content, memos, Q&A, toolkits).
  • Support change communications and, as needed, crisis communications planning (message coordination, timing, manager enablement).
  • Collaborate with HR and leadership to support employee engagement initiatives, including culture-building moments, events, and recognition.
  • Serve as a liaison between teammates and leadership by gathering feedback, surfacing themes, and helping close the loop through clear follow-up communications.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate our employer brand across all touchpoints in the employee journey (recruitment, onboarding, training, retention).
  • Create content and collateral that communicates our company story, culture, values, and benefits in a compelling, authentic way.
  • Lead development and refinement of an Employer Value Proposition (EVP)—defining what makes Sand Valley a unique place to work and translating that into recruiting and internal messaging.
  • Help define and reinforce company culture by identifying core values, behaviors, and stories—and ensuring they show up in how we communicate and engage employees.
  • Measure effectiveness of internal communication channels and campaigns (engagement, reach, employee feedback) and use insights to continuously improve.
  • Audit and evaluate internal communications processes and tools in collaboration with HR; recommend improvements to strengthen clarity and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, human resources, or a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience in internal communications, marketing, public relations, human resources, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to adapt tone and content for frontline team members, leaders, and other audiences.
  • Experience creating written and visual content for multiple communication channels.
  • Strong organization and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through consistently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build productive relationships across departments and levels of the organization.
  • Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when working with sensitive or high visibility information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and experience with communication or design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, or survey platforms.
  • Ability to work onsite at Sand Valley, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional schedule flexibility to support resort events or time sensitive communications.
