Position Overview

The Director of Digital Properties leads the strategy, development, and ongoing optimization of Seattle Symphony's digital ecosystem, including the organization's website, Tessitura integrations, and other audience-facing digital platforms. This role ensures that Seattle Symphony and Benaroya Hall's digital properties support ticket sales, fundraising initiatives, education and community engagement programs, and institutional storytelling while delivering an intuitive and high-performing user experience.


The Director serves as the organization's digital product owner, guiding the evolution of digital platforms through technical expertise, data-informed decision making, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external development partners. The Director also serves as the organization's lead subject matter expert on the digital infrastructure connecting the website, ecommerce environment, and Tessitura CRM.


While embedded within Marketing & Communications, the role works across the organization, partnering with Development, Education & Community Engagement and Artistic teams to ensure digital platforms support ticketing, fundraising, learning programs, and audience engagement.


The Director supervises the Digital Project Manager and Digital Project Manager, CMS, and manages relationships with external developers and technology vendors to ensure reliable and scalable digital platforms. The role plays a central part in shaping how audiences discover, explore, and engage with Seattle Symphony and Benaroya Hall online.

Key Responsibilities


Digital Platform Strategy & Ownership

Serve as product owner for Seattle Symphony's website and digital ecosystem, guiding long-term platform strategy and development.

Establish and manage the digital product roadmap, prioritizing platform enhancements and development initiatives in partnership with organizational leadership.

Ensure digital platforms support ticket sales, fundraising initiatives, learning programs, and audience engagement across Seattle Symphony and Benaroya Hall.

Maintain a holistic view of the digital patron journey, improving the online experience based on user behavior, stakeholder feedback, and evolving institutional priorities.

Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and digital tools to enhance audience engagement and operational efficiency.


Website, Ecommerce & Tessitura Integration

Oversee the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Seattle Symphony website and related digital platforms.

Serve as the organization's lead subject matter expert on digital integrations with Tessitura, ensuring effective alignment between the website, ecommerce systems, and patron data infrastructure.

Collaborate with external developers and technology partners to implement platform enhancements, troubleshoot issues, and support system upgrades.

Ensure digital platforms are secure, reliable, and scalable while maintaining strong data and payment security practices.


Collaboration & Team Leadership

Partner with the Senior Director of Marketing to support digital campaigns, subscription initiatives, and other revenue-generating strategies.

Collaborate with the Senior Director of Communications & Storytelling to ensure digital platforms effectively present editorial content, multimedia storytelling, and organic social media initiatives.

Work closely with Development to support digital fundraising initiatives and donor engagement strategies.

Partner with Education & Community Engagement to support digital access to educational programs and community initiatives.

Supervise the Digital Project Manager and Digital Project Manager, CMS, providing guidance and prioritization of digital initiatives.

Manage relationships with external developers, technology vendors, and integration partners to ensure reliable and effective digital infrastructure.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.

Significant experience managing complex websites, digital platforms, or ecommerce environments, ideally within arts, cultural, nonprofit, or mission-driven organizations.

Strong understanding of CRM systems and digital integrations, with experience working with platforms such as Tessitura strongly preferred.

Experience leading website development initiatives and managing external developers, technology vendors, and integration partners.

Familiarity with CMS platforms, digital product workflows, and web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, APIs, data integrations) sufficient to collaborate effectively with technical teams.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and user behavior insights to drive platform improvements and audience engagement.
