Job description

The Great Library Co. is seeking a Sr Digital Librarian to strengthen and expand our onsite digital collections and support patrons with exceptional research and information services.

Position Summary

The Sr Digital Librarian will oversee the organization, curation, and ongoing management of digital library resources to ensure they are accessible, discoverable, and preserved for long-term use. This role combines subject-matter stewardship with strong service orientation, partnering with internal teams to enhance digital experiences for patrons and staff.

In this onsite position in Mountain View, the Sr Digital Librarian will help establish effective digital content workflows, support metadata and cataloging standards, and contribute to the continuous improvement of digital access and user support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curate and maintain digital collections, ensuring accurate metadata, effective organization, and dependable access for patrons.

  • Manage digital library workflows, including ingestion, quality checks, documentation, and ongoing collection maintenance.

  • Support discovery and usability by applying consistent cataloging practices and improving search and navigation experiences.

  • Assist patrons with research inquiries and guidance on locating, using, and interpreting digital resources.

  • Collaborate with team members to identify collection needs, prioritize updates, and recommend improvements to digital library services.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience managing or supporting digital information resources, digital collections, or library/information services.

  • Strong knowledge of cataloging and metadata principles, with the ability to apply consistent standards.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with digital content workflows, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to support users with varying levels of digital literacy.

  • Ability to work onsite at 72 Mercy St, Mountain View, CA 94041-2228 and maintain a professional, service-focused presence.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with digital preservation concepts and best practices for long-term access.

  • Experience improving search/discovery experiences through information architecture, metadata refinement, or workflow enhancements.

  • Background in research support, reference services, or user instruction within a library or information environment.

  • Ability to contribute to documentation and training materials for internal users or patrons.

Compensation

Hourly rate: $35.00 - $45.00
