PlainsCapital Bank is seeking a Digital Payments Strategy & Operations Manager to be responsible for driving strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and modernization efforts across the Bank's payment ecosystem. The Manager will lead and support critical payment transformation initiatives, including system implementations, conversions, process optimization efforts, and operational readiness activities. This role will develop deep subject matter expertise across domestic and international payment channels while progressively assuming broader leadership responsibilities within Digital Payments. The position will also provide operational and strategic support for enterprise growth initiatives, regulatory changes, and evolving payment capabilities.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in payment operations, treasury management, banking operations, or related financial services functions.
  • 8+ years of leadership, project management, or operational management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting wire transfer operations, instant payments, ACH, treasury services, or other payment-related functions.
  • Experience leading complex projects, strategic initiatives, system conversions, or operational transformation efforts preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of payment networks and industry trends, including Fedwire, SWIFT, FedNow, RTP, and emerging payment technologies.
  • Working knowledge of operational risk management, fraud prevention, regulatory compliance, and payment governance practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to build partnerships and collaborate effectively across business units and leadership levels.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to various audiences.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams) and the ability to learn and utilize banking systems and applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, influence outcomes, and drive organizational improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to adjust work schedules as necessary to support critical business initiatives, implementations, and operational events.

  • Lead strategic initiatives supporting the modernization and expansion of the Bank's digital payment capabilities, products, and operational infrastructure.
  • Serve as a business lead for payment-related system implementations, conversions, upgrades, and integration efforts, including coordination with business, technology, vendor, and operational stakeholders.
  • Support the successful planning, testing, implementation, and ongoing optimization of payment platforms, including wire transfer, instant payment, and emerging payment technologies.
  • Partner with payment operations leadership to ensure operational readiness, business continuity, and process effectiveness across critical payment functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with Technology, Treasury Management, Risk Management, Compliance, Audit, Finance, Operations, and other business units.
  • Evaluate payment processes, workflows, and controls to identify opportunities for increased efficiency, scalability, automation, and risk mitigation.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and operational controls supporting payment activities.
  • Participate in risk management activities by identifying operational risks, recommending mitigation strategies, and supporting effective control execution.
  • Support compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, payment network rules, sanctions programs, anti-money laundering requirements, and internal policies.
  • Coordinate operational activities associated with disaster recovery planning, business continuity exercises, and system resiliency testing.
  • Monitor industry developments, market trends, and emerging payment capabilities to provide recommendations that support the Bank's long-term payment strategy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and operational representative for bank-wide initiatives including acquisitions, integrations, system conversions, and strategic growth opportunities.
  • Support the administration and oversight of payment-related vendor relationships, service level expectations, and operational performance metrics.
  • Assist with the development of departmental business plans, resource planning activities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with payment operations leadership to support workforce development, cross-training initiatives, succession planning efforts, and knowledge management programs.
  • Develop expertise across domestic and international payment services, correspondent banking activities, liquidity movement processes, and related operational functions to support evolving business needs.
  • Prepare and maintain management reporting related to operational performance, customer activity, productivity measures, and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze payment volumes and operational trends to identify opportunities for product enhancement and operational improvement.
  • Support fee revenue optimization efforts through operational monitoring, reporting, and partnership with Product, Treasury Management, and Finance teams.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and project oversight for cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
