Job description

Job Summary

As a Senior Autonomous Vehicle Operations Specialist you will work independently and alongside your teammates to ensure a safe and positive experience for our riders, Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs), and customers by coordinating daily logistics as well as supporting our Autonomous Vehicles during operations. You will report directly to the Site Operations Manager and will be vital in ensuring May Mobility exceeds expectations for customer satisfaction. As a senior role, you will lead peers in ensuring efficiency and driving results.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Lead shift-level operations, ensuring all activities follow rigorous safety guidelines and May Mobility protocols
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation during your shift for vehicle, passenger, and operational issues
  • Monitor vehicle health in real time using company tools; coordinate with engineering on mechanical and software issues
  • Follow and enforce incident response protocols; communicate details quickly and clearly to the Site Manager and relevant stakeholders
  • Complete Incident Response reporting as backup to Site Manager
  • Create and Execute Incident Response Drills at designated site(s)
  • Track daily site performance metrics and identify trends; surface findings and recommendations to the Site Manager
  • Assist in testing software and vehicle technology changes, providing clear and structured feedback
  • Conduct site audit for regulatory compliance and performance
  • Support the Site Manager in scheduling, training, and onboarding of new team members
  • Train and certify Autonomous Vehicle Operators (AVOs) following approved curriculum where applicable
  • Foster a work environment that values all team members and embodies May Mobility's culture and values
  • Ensure exceptional service standards for both customers and passengers at all times
  • Represent May Mobility professionally to external parties, including demonstrations, site visits, and community events
  • Serve as an on-site point of contact for business partners in coordination with the Site Manager
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, incident reports, and operational documentation
  • Collaborate with peer sites to uphold consistency in processes and best practices; update documentation accordingly
  • Identify process gaps and escalate improvement opportunities to the Site Manager
  • Cover shifts across days and times that may fall outside standard business hours
  • Travel to other sites for coverage, cross-training, or operational support as needed (up to 50% travel)
Skills and Abilities

Success in this role typically requires the following competencies:

  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new software and processesย 
  • Ability to coach and lead by example
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across multiple platforms; strict attention to detail in every situation
  • High comfort level with making judgment calls in ambiguous situations
  • Understanding of best practices when it comes to top-notch customer service
  • Ability to work effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable representing the company externally and communicating across organizational levels
  • Proficiency with a laptop and Google suite applications (Gmail, sheets, docs, etc.)ย 
Qualifications and Experience

Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:

Required

  • 5+ years experience in a fast-adapting and customer-focused environment
  • 3 + years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

Desirable

  • Associates degree or higher in Business, Technical Operations, or related area
  • Prior experience in operations or logistics
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite
Physical Requirements
  • Standard site working conditions which includes but is not limited to:
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% or more of the time
    • Must be able to move and / or change positions often when needed
    • Prolonged computer use
  • Flexibility to work weekends and adjust schedule to align with site operating hours and project needs, including early mornings, evenings, and holidays as required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time and climb ladders (infrequent)
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Travel required? -ย  Moderate: 25-50%
