Job Summary:

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for the oversight of a single site/account or fleet, warehouse personnel, or non-J.B. Hunt assets, including operational personnel (drivers, contractors, office, and/or warehouse employees.) This position optimizes the company's assets by monitoring revenue and costs through effective P&L analysis and builds and maintains customer satisfaction through problem-solving, communication, and relationship building. The position may be located on-site at the customer's facility. Incumbents must be able to work any shift to satisfy the demand for flexibility in scheduling to ensure operational success. This includes but is not limited to, day shifts, night shifts, and weekend shifts.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with customers, internal departments, and team to identify and resolve problems or issues with personnel, customer, account, etc. throughout the day and, where required, when on call

  • Forecast freight volumes/customer volume needs, power/equipment needs, and adjust capacity needs as a result to ensure fleet/carrier and equipment coverage is seamless and meets Federal and state requirements

  • Lead personnel to resolve service issues, receipt, inventory, material handling and safety of goods coming through the warehouse, etc. as they occur throughout the day and, where necessary, when on call; May coordinate warehouse resources in order to maintain working processes

  • May assign loads and plan, route, and monitor freight movement to provide safe, on-time service and meet customer requirements, including managing exceptions on that freight and driver ETA adjustments based on pick-up and delivery schedules, and other environmental factors on the road.

  • May assist warehouse workers with duties including but not limited to operating loading/unloading vehicles, preparing goods and materials, and processing receipts, inventory, etc.

  • Monitor and communicate operational safety standards, warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements; takes proactive steps to create a positive safety culture at their accounts by enforcing company policies, ensuring compliance, and company safety requirements are being met

  • Oversee assigned operations and serves as the first point of contact with their assigned customers in order to provide exceptional service and trouble free account safety, efficiency and profitable operation

  • Responsible for complete P&L performance, including cost control decisions, expense management, and maximizing profitability, as well as identifying and maintaining key performance indicators. Includes design versus actual data analysis for each customer through mid-year business reviews, annual account assessments, and preparing and presenting final presentation, etc

  • Responsible for the management of employee payroll, and/or creation of invoices and ensuring customer billing is accurate and timely Responsible for the selection, hiring, training & development of all operational personnel and the preparation of personnel strategy per location freight mix and coverage gaps

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualification:

High School Diploma with 3-5 years of Transportation/Logistics experience and/or 2-4 years of supervisory experience &/or military equivalent; must possess a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record as per JBH standards; ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed. Must be willing to travel to account, customer, & company event locations when applicable.
Preferred Qualification:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Finance, or related fields with 1 year of relevant professional experience or 2-4 years of experience with J.B. Hunt or in the Transportation/Logistics industry with 2-4 years of supervisory experience.
AND/OR Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:

Ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment
Ability to adapt to changing environments
Establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers
Ability to meet or exceed team/driver needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
Effective communication skills
Ability to develop and track challenging goals that support business strategies
Knowledge of business metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Ability to form and manage effective teams
Participate in the process of recruitment of permanent and contract personnel, achieving optimal match between candidate and position
Understanding the resources required to achieve business objectives and the ability to plan, mobilize, and distribute resources to fulfill business objectives and plans.

Compensation:

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position may be eligible for annual bonus and incentives based on profitability or volumes in accordance with the terms of the Company's bonus and incentive plans, as applicable and in effect from time to time.
