Description
We are seeking an experienced Digital Content Manager to manage, maintain and optimize our websites and digital content platforms. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented digital professional who combines strong content and editorial skills with hands-on website management experience.
The Digital Content Manager will serve as a key resource for website content and digital operations, working across marketing, communications, membership, education and other business areas to ensure our digital presence is accurate, engaging, accessible and optimized for users, traditional search and emerging AI-driven search.
The ideal candidate will have experience with WordPress or similar content management systems, HTML/CSS, Google Analytics, SEO and website quality assurance. This individual should be comfortable translating requests from nontechnical stakeholders into effective digital solutions, troubleshooting routine website issues and coordinating with internal IT resources and external development partners when more advanced technical support is required.
This is a full-time position in our Rolling Meadows, IL Corporate Office.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day website content, updates and digital publishing across organizational websites and platforms.
  • Create, edit, format and publish web content using WordPress and other content management systems.
  • Use HTML and CSS to support content updates and troubleshoot routine formatting, layout and display issues.
  • Maintain high standards for website accuracy, consistency, functionality and overall user experience.
  • Conduct routine website quality assurance and functionality reviews to identify broken links, outdated content, display issues and other website problems.
  • Support website accessibility and ensure digital content follows established accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Implement SEO best practices, including page titles, metadata, headings, internal linking, content structure and on-page optimization.
  • Support evolving GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) and AI search strategies to improve the visibility and discoverability of organizational content.
  • Monitor website traffic, engagement, acquisition and user behavior using Google Analytics and other digital tools.
  • Develop regular website performance reports and translate analytics into actionable recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve website navigation, content organization, search performance, conversions and overall user experience.
  • Support website redesigns, migrations, platform upgrades and other major digital initiatives.
  • Coordinate website content and digital requirements across marketing, communications, membership, education and other departments.
  • Translate business and program needs into clear website requirements and solutions.
  • Work with internal IT resources and external web development, hosting and technology partners to troubleshoot issues and implement enhancements.
  • Manage website content workflows, intake processes, publishing schedules and documentation.
  • Ensure website content aligns with organizational brand, editorial and accessibility standards.
  • Assist with digital campaigns, landing pages and other web-based initiatives as needed.
  • Stay current on digital content, SEO/GEO, accessibility, analytics, CMS and web publishing best practices.

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in digital content management, web production, website management or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated experience managing, updating and publishing content on organizational or content-rich websites.
  • Hands-on experience with WordPress or a comparable content management system.
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • Experience using Google Analytics or a similar web analytics platform.
  • Working knowledge of SEO and web content optimization best practices.
  • Understanding of website accessibility principles and best practices.
  • Experience conducting website quality assurance, functionality testing and basic troubleshooting.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate, high-quality digital content.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently identify issues, recommend solutions and move work forward.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced experience with WordPress, including themes, plugins and site administration.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript and/or PHP.
  • Experience supporting website redesigns, migrations or major platform upgrades.
  • Experience with website accessibility standards, including WCAG and Section 508.
  • Experience conducting SEO audits and implementing recommendations.
  • Familiarity with GEO, generative AI search and emerging search optimization practices.
  • Experience developing dashboards or reports using Google Analytics and translating data into recommendations.
  • Familiarity with Google Search Console and related search performance tools.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or similar digital design tools.
  • Experience working with external web development, hosting or technology vendors.
  • Experience in an association, nonprofit, scientific, medical, education or publishing environment.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this full-time position is $70,000-$80,000. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience and other job-related factors.
