Reports to Marketing Manager and Student Manager and is the primary liaison between them and the social coordinators.
Directly supports the CASE and FitRec Social Media Coordinators and the social media portion of the Design and Marketing Coordinator.
Coordinates all digital marketing efforts across all areas of University Centers
Position Overview
The Social Media Lead is responsible for overseeing strategy, execution, training, quality control, and analytics for all University Centers social media platforms, including Conference & Event Services, FitRec, CASE, Cupboard and University Centers.
In addition to producing content, this position supports the creation of content calendars for Social Media Coordinators, collaborations across accounts, and ensures brand alignment while improving engagement and marketing initiatives.
This role combines creative leadership, project management, staff development, and strategic planning.
Core Leadership Responsibilities
1. Team Supervision & Development
  • Supervise and mentor three Social Media Coordinators
  • Conduct monthly social media user group meetings
  • Provide constructive feedback on content before publishing
  • Assist in onboarding and training new social media staff
  • Participate in interviews for future Social Media Coordinators

2. Strategy & Direction
  • Develop semester-based social media strategy aligned with University Centers goals
  • Oversee content calendars and ensure coordinators are completing them
  • Ensure all content aligns with university branding guidelines
  • Identify growth opportunities, trends, and engagement strategies
  • Make data-informed decisions using marketing analytics

3. Quality Control & Brand Management
  • Approve posts before publishing when necessary
  • Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and visual branding
  • Monitor account engagement and audience interaction
  • Address public-facing issues or escalate concerns to management

4. Analytics & Performance Oversight
  • Maintain monthly analytics reports
  • Present performance updates in marketing team meetings
  • Propose strategic adjustments based on performance data

5. Administrative & Operational Leadership
  • Maintain structured content workflow using ClickUp
  • Ensure deadlines are met by coordinators
  • Serve as on-call resource for urgent social media needs during major events and emergencies (as scheduled)

Advanced Multimedia Oversight
While not required to produce all content, the Digital Marketing Team Lead should:
  • Provide technical guidance on photography, videography, and editing
  • Review and elevate creative quality
  • Step in on high-priority projects when needed

Skills and Requirements
  • Minimum one semester on the University Centers Marketing Team (preferred)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and strong communication skills
  • Advanced understanding of social media platforms and analytics
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and supervise peers
  • Strong understanding of branding and marketing strategy

Education
The Marketing Student Manager must be at least a part-time student (enrolled in a minimum of 6 undergraduate or 5 graduate credits) and be in good academic standing (cumulative and semester GPAs of 2.0 or higher) at the time of hiring and throughout employment.
Qualifications and Wage Classification
In addition to the general qualifications for all UW Stevens Point student employees (taking at least 6 undergraduate credits or 5 graduate credits per semester and be in good academic standing with the University), the Digital Marketing Team Lead should have at least 2 semesters remaining on campus. The position requires the ability to work a minimum of 10 hours and a maximum of 20 hours during the academic year. Summer and Winterim hours are expected. The scheduled hours must fall between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. in addition to occasional evenings and weekends as scheduled. This position is classified as Division II, Range II as defined in the UWSP University Centers Student Employment Wage Classification Scale.
