What does a digital marketing professional do?

A Digital Marketing Professional is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing marketing campaigns that promote a company and its products or services online. They leverage various digital channels such as social media, email, search engines, and websites to engage customers and drive traffic, leads, or sales. Their duties often include content creation, SEO optimization, data analysis, and staying up-to-date with the latest digital marketing trends and tools. By measuring and analyzing campaign performance, they help organizations maximize their online presence and achieve marketing goals.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a digital marketing professional?

To thrive as a Digital Marketing Professional, you need a solid understanding of digital marketing strategies, content creation, analytics, and often a degree in marketing or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, SEO platforms, social media management systems, and certifications such as Google Ads or HubSpot are highly valued. Strong creativity, adaptability, and communication skills help you engage audiences and coordinate effectively with teams. These abilities are crucial for driving brand awareness, optimizing campaigns, and achieving measurable business growth in a dynamic online environment.

How does a digital marketing professional typically measure the effectiveness of their campaigns?

Digital Marketing Professionals often use a combination of analytics tools and key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate campaign effectiveness. Commonly tracked metrics include website traffic, conversion rates, click-through rates, and return on investment (ROI). These professionals regularly analyze data from platforms like Google Analytics, social media insights, and email marketing dashboards to optimize ongoing and future campaigns. The ability to interpret and act on this data is crucial for achieving marketing goals and demonstrating value to stakeholders.

You will have opportunities to strengthen your problem-solving, communication, analytical, and decision-making skills while working with a mentor and building your professional network.
The pay range is $20.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on education level. This position is not eligible for employee benefits. The work schedule will consist of approximately 20 hours per week, not to exceed 1,000 hours within a continuous 12-month period.
This posting will remain open until a candidate is selected.

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Strong interest in digital marketing, content development, social media, and customer communications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, website content, email marketing, or other digital marketing channels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Canva or similar creative tools preferred.
  • Ability to research and analyze campaign performance and contribute ideas for improving digital engagement.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Creative, collaborative, and proactive approach with a willingness to take initiative and support fast-moving campaigns.

Why You'll Love It Here
  • Gain hands-on experience working on high-visibility digital marketing campaigns.
  • Contribute to major customer initiatives, including the rollout of new technology that impacts OCTA riders.
  • Help expand OCTA's digital presence and improve how the agency connects with customers.
  • Develop practical skills in campaign execution, digital content, social media, marketing analytics, and project coordination.
  • Work alongside experienced marketing and communications professionals in a dynamic environment.
  • Build your professional network through mentorship and cross-functional collaboration while contributing to meaningful transportation initiatives.
