Position Summary:

Travere is seeking an entrepreneurial and strategic leader to help drive our digital innovation agenda. As the Senior Director, Digital Innovation and Strategy- R&D, you will serve as a strategic advisor and subject-matter expert to cross-functional R&D teams, ensuring advanced digital capabilities and AI are embedded across the development organization to unlock new value and efficiencies for the organization. You will define and execute a digital strategy to drive new value, operational efficiency, and cross-functional impact. This role sits in the Digital Innovation and Strategy team and will serve as a key partner to Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Biometrics, Quality, Regulatory and Enterprise Technology and Solutions (ETS) teams. In partnership with the VP of Digital Innovation and Strategy, this role will also lead efforts to educate and enable the broader organization- building digital capabilities, further developing internal champions, and embedding best practices to help teams scale smarter and work more efficiently to ensure Travere is not only digitally innovative, but also digitally empowered for long-term success.

Responsibilities:

Digital Strategy & Transformation

  • Develop and execute a multi-year digital innovation and AI strategy aligned with Development, Enterprise Technology, and corporate objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to transform development processes through establishment of an eClinical Systems Ecosystem Strategy that can enable automation, advanced analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and emerging digital technologies to be leveraged across the development organization.
  • Build and maintain a prioritized roadmap of digital initiatives focused on maximizing business value, operational efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Partner with Development leadership to establish digital transformation goals, success metrics, and value realization frameworks.
  • Build strong relationships and serve as a strategic partner to leaders across Clinical Operations, Clinical Development, Biometrics, Quality, Regulatory other R&D functions.
  • Drive adoption of digital-first ways of working across the organization.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to identify shared challenges and develop enterprise-wide digital solutions.
  • Partner closely with ETS on leading processes to prioritize investments, manage digital portfolios, and align resources with strategic objectives.

Digital & AI Enablement

  • Establish a framework for evaluating, piloting, scaling, and governing Digital and AI solutions across Development.
  • Identify and implement digital and AI-enabled capabilities that improve productivity, enhance quality, accelerate document generation, streamline safety operations, optimize trial execution, and support regulatory activities.
  • Ensure responsible and compliant use of AI technologies consistent with regulatory requirements, data privacy standards, and company policies.
  • Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously identify new opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage.

Operational Excellence & Value Creation

  • Lead initiatives that improve process efficiency, reduce cycle times, eliminate manual work, and enhance decision quality across Development functions.
  • Establish KPIs and measurement frameworks to quantify business impact, user adoption, return on investment, and operational improvements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data, analytics, and digital tools.
  • Champion a culture of innovation and experimentation while maintaining appropriate governance and risk management.

Digital Thought Leadership

  • Serve as a member of the Digital Innovation Steering Committee (DiSC).
  • Act as a thought leader internally, advancing digital innovation, engagement, and user experience capabilities across the organization.
  • Build upon existing frameworks to further define AI governance, experimentation, and responsible deployment.
  • Monitor the AI and digital innovation landscape to inform buy/build/partner decisions.
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation, helping teams adopt scalable, tech-enabled ways of working.
  • Guide change management efforts to support adoption of new tools, systems, and digital workflows.
  • Establish strategic approach for enabling and/or enhancing AI capabilities with new and existing company vendors.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree. Advanced degree preferred in Business, Digital Health, Marketing, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience may be considered.
  • 12+ years in digital strategy, commercial innovation, or transformation, preferably within life sciences, biotech, or a similarly regulated industry.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to drive cross-functional change and influence stakeholders.
  • Vision & Execution: Ability to set strategic direction while rolling up sleeves to build early-stage capabilities.
  • Communication: Exceptional communicator, able to translate complex topics into business-relevant insights.
  • Strong and strategic leader with ability to work cross functionally with ease.
  • Exercises excellent judgement in escalating issues and problems where necessary and determining appropriate project communications to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates an empathic approach to problem-solving, with a willingness to work across all levels of leadership and functional areas in a growing, changing, and fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrates an ability to influence without authority in a grounded manner.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
  • All positions have an essential job function to be able to perform face to face work with colleagues and/or onsite in San Diego. No role is expected to be 100% remote.

Target Base Pay Range:

$219,000.00 - $285,000.00
