Description:
Waypoint's client is seeking a Digital AI Development Engineer to support advanced AI and data-driven solution development within a missile defense environment. This role supports Systems Engineering Technical Assistance efforts to a Missile Defense Agency program office, focusing on the design, implementation, and optimization of AI pipelines and scalable data solutions.
The selected candidate will contribute to the development of AI-enabled systems, integrating modern frameworks, cloud technologies, and data architectures to support mission-critical capabilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement AI pipelines for data ingestion, processing, and model deployment using frameworks such as LangChain and Open WebUI.
  • Develop and manage embedding databases to support semantic search, recommendation systems, and AI-driven applications.
  • Integrate AI solutions with cloud platforms such as Azure Foundry to ensure scalability, reliability, and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver AI-driven capabilities.
  • Optimize AI workflows for performance, scalability, and integration with existing systems.
  • Maintain and improve AI pipeline performance by leveraging emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Document AI workflows, architectures, and best practices for development and sustainment.

Required:
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience supporting AI, data engineering, or software development efforts.
  • Working knowledge of AI pipelines, including data processing, model deployment, and system integration.
  • Experience with frameworks such as LangChain, Open WebUI, and embedding databases.
  • Strong programming experience in Python or similar languages, with a focus on AI and data processing libraries.

Desired:
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (Bedrock, SageMaker) or Azure Foundry for AI deployment.
  • Experience with semantic search, recommendation systems, and AI-driven data applications.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable AI architectures.
