Job description

The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD ("The HARRIS CENTER") is looking for a Digital Communications Specialist to join our team! The Digital Communications Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing The Harris Center's digital presence to ensure accurate, engaging, and accessible communication for internal and external audiences. This role supports both the agency and The Harris Center Foundation through website management, social media, intranet content, and digital signage. The position plays a critical role in strengthening brand presence, improving user experience, and supporting outreach, and engagement efforts.

Your Role in Action:

Website & Digital Platforms
Manage and update The Harris Center's public website and The Harris Center Foundation website, ensuring content is accurate, timely, and aligned with brand standards.
Coordinate with internal departments to gather, edit, and publish digital content, including program updates, announcements, and resources.
Apply SEO best practices to improve search visibility, accessibility, and performance of web content.
Monitor website analytics and user behavior to inform content improvements and recommendations.

Social Media Management
Manage and maintain social media accounts for both the agency and the Foundation.
Develop, schedule, and publish content across platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn, X, Instagram, YouTube).
Monitor engagement, respond to comments and messages as appropriate, and escalate issues whenneeded.
Track performance metrics and prepare regular reports on reach, engagement, and growth.

Intranet (SharePoint) & Internal Communications
Serve as a key content manager for the agency intranet (SharePoint), ensuring information is wellorganized, accessible, and current .Collaborate with departments to post announcements, resources, tools, and campaigns.
Support internal communication initiatives by creating and maintaining digital content that promotes staff engagement and awareness.

Digital Signage
Manage digital signage content across agency locations, ensuring consistent, clear, and timely messaging.
Schedule, design, and deploy signage content in alignment with agency communications goals.

General Communications Support
Ensure all digital communications adhere to brand, accessibility, and compliance standards.
Stay current on digital communication trends, platform updates, and emerging tools.
Participate in cross-functional projects and provide digital expertise to agency initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • An undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, digital media, public relations, marketing, or a related
    field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in one or more of the following
    areas: communications, video production, web development, graphic design, and/or social media
    management.
  • Basic graphic design skills are preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills/Abilities:

Strong understanding of website content management systems (CMS) and SharePoint.
Working knowledge of SEO best practices, analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics), and social media platforms.
Ability to write and edit clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
Ability to meet deadlines and complete projects in a timely manner;
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point;
Excellent interpersonal skills; and
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
