Job Summary:

This role provides strategic oversight for the Center for Career Advancement's technology and data ecosystem, driving the integration, accessibility, and optimization of platforms like Handshake, uConnect, Hiration, and emerging AI tools to deliver a personalized, user-centered experience. By leading real-time data collection and developing actionable dashboards, the position tracks student engagement, experiential learning, and post-graduation outcomes to address equity gaps, measure program impact, and guide continuous improvement. Crucially, it relies on deep cross-campus collaboration-partnering with academic colleges, Institutional Research, the Dominguez Center for Data Science, Communications, Advancement, Athletics, and Academic Affairs - to integrate technology, align strategy, and leverage data-driven insights that elevate career readiness and overall student success.

Job Duties:

Reporting Relationship:
  • Reports to the Freeman Family Associate Vice President and Director of the Center for Career Advancement (CCA)

Work Setting:
  • On campus, student facing role

Work Schedule:
  • 40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

  • May work some nights and weekends to promote events and programs for the Center for Career Advancement (CCA)

What You Will Do:
  • Provide strategic oversight of career portfolio of technologies, including Handshake, uConnect, Hiration, and emerging tools, ensuring seamless integration, data integrity, accessibility, and a user-centered experience.

  • Lead the collection, analysis, and reporting of real-time career engagement and placement success data to inform strategy, assess impact, and drive continuous improvement. Develop dashboards and actionable insights to identify engagement trends, address equity gaps, and enhance student success.

  • Partner with University Communications, Institutional Research, the Dominguez Center for Data Science, University Advancement, the Freeman College of Management, College of Engineering, and College of Arts & Sciences, Athletics, Academic Affairs, and other campus stakeholders to integrate technology, leverage data, and develop innovative solutions that enhance student career outcomes, improve engagement, and support data-informed decision-making across the Center for Career Advancement.

  • Advance the Center's use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies to transform career services, enhance personalized student support, improve career readiness, and leverage data to assess engagement, experiential learning, and internship and post graduation career outcomes.

  • Lead the ongoing development and optimization of uConnect and other career technology platforms, partnering with the CCA Communications and Marketing team to integrate career outcomes data, enhance the digital user experience, and increase student engagement with career resources and opportunities.

What You Will Bring: Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in data science, information systems, public administration or related field

  • Four (4) years of work experience in data management, analytics, governance and or a related field

Preferred, but not required:
  • Masters degree in a related field

  • Experience in higher education or a similarly complex, decentralized organization

  • Prior experience with Tableau, PowerBi, or other business intelligence and data visualization software

Knowledge Areas and Skills:
  • Ability to understand data and analyze reports

  • Demonstrated expertise in creating and executing data strategies that align with organizational goals

  • Strong understanding of data platforms, analytics, and reporting, with the ability to collect, analyze, interpret, and communicate student engagement and career outcomes data through meaningful dashboards, reports, and data-informed insights

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.

This role is not budgeted for visa sponsorship, all candidates must be authorized to work in the US without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.
