Digital Analytics Developer information

What is a Digital Analytics Developer?

A Digital Analytics Developer is a professional who implements, manages, and optimizes analytics solutions on digital platforms, such as websites and mobile apps. They work with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, and tag management systems to collect and analyze user data. Their role involves creating and maintaining tracking codes, ensuring accurate data capture, and providing insights that support business decisions. Digital Analytics Developers often collaborate with marketing, design, and engineering teams to improve digital performance and user experience.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Digital Analytics Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Digital Analytics Developer, you need a strong background in web development, JavaScript, data analysis, and a relevant degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Tag Management Systems (e.g., Google Tag Manager), and data visualization platforms is crucial. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication set high performers apart in this role. These skills and qualities are essential for ensuring accurate data collection, insightful analysis, and clear reporting that drive data-driven decision-making for organizations.

What is the difference between Digital Analytics Developer vs Data Analyst?

AspectDigital Analytics DeveloperData Analyst
Required CredentialsBachelor's in Computer Science, Analytics, or related field; knowledge of analytics tools and programmingBachelor's in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field; proficiency in data analysis tools
Work EnvironmentDevelops and implements analytics solutions, often within marketing or IT teamsAnalyzes data sets to generate insights, typically across various departments
Employer & Industry UsageUsed in digital marketing, e-commerce, and tech companies for tracking user behaviorCommon across finance, healthcare, and business sectors for decision support

While both roles involve working with data, a Digital Analytics Developer primarily focuses on creating and maintaining analytics tools and tracking systems, whereas a Data Analyst interprets data to provide actionable insights. The roles often overlap but serve different functions within data-driven organizations.

How does a Digital Analytics Developer typically collaborate with marketing and IT teams?

Digital Analytics Developers often act as a bridge between marketing and IT teams, ensuring that web analytics tools are properly implemented and data is accurately captured across digital platforms. They work closely with marketers to understand campaign goals and reporting needs, translating those requirements into technical specifications. At the same time, they coordinate with IT or web development teams to integrate tracking codes, troubleshoot data discrepancies, and maintain data integrity. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential, as this role frequently involves explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

In this position...

We're seeking for an Experienced (Adobe / Google) Analyst who enjoys using data to shape meaningful digital experiences. In this role, you'll serve as the Insights Hub lead for our web teams, where you'll use data driven insights to improve user experiences, increase engagement, and support broader business outcomes. You'll work closely with partners across our Blue, Model e, and Own web marketing teams, providing the data and strategic context they need to make confident, informed decisions. You'll bring a strong foundation in web analytics (Adobe), audience segmentation, and experimental design, along with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that drive real impact.

Data Exploration & Analysis

  • You'll conduct day to day analysis of website traffic and user behavior, using regular "pulse checks" to uncover trends, identify anomalies, and surface opportunities for improvement.

Reporting & Communication

  • You'll manage and prioritize requests for ad hoc reporting, partnering with the Data Analytics Engineering (DAE) team when deeper support is needed.
  • You'll develop and deliver clear, compelling data stories that explain performance, highlight key drivers, and translate insights into actionable recommendations for the Blue, Model e, and Own web teams.
  • You'll help stakeholders understand not just the data itself, but the story behind it, enabling confident, informed decision making.

On Page Engagement Optimization

  • You'll analyze on page engagement metrics such as scroll depth, click through rates, and time on page to identify opportunities to improve content and design for greater impact.

Benchmarking & Experimentation

  • You'll establish benchmarks, baselines, and hypotheses for both new and existing experiences.
  • You'll design and analyze A/B tests and other experiments to validate hypotheses and continuously optimize performance.

Strategic Planning & Measurement

  • You'll evaluate the effectiveness of marketing campaigns by connecting web analytics with data from CRM, media, and social platforms.

Audience Personalization, Segmentation & Targeting

  • You'll conduct audience segmentation analyses to identify high value segments and inform the development of personalized experiences.
  • You'll build and maintain audience reporting to measure effectiveness and support the creation of new segments and experiences.

Audience Building Support

  • You'll help determine the business value of addressable audience groups.

Strategy & Ideation

  • You'll collaborate with cross functional stakeholders to shape strategies for new experiences, defining success metrics and identifying potential risks or challenges.
  • You'll help clarify what success looks like, what outcomes are expected, and what needs to shift to achieve desired results.

You'll have...

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Marketing, Business, Statistics, Psychology,or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience working with enterprise digital analytics and experience measurement platforms, including tools such as Adobe Analytics, ContentSquare, Medallia, Microsoft Excel and Tableau (Google Analytics)
  • Strong understanding of web analytics concepts, including user behavior analysis, engagement metrics, funnels, and conversion measurement.
  • Build and maintain comprehensive website dashboards that bring together performance, engagement, and experience metrics, enabling teams to easily monitor health, track progress against goals, and identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for cross functional partners.
  • Comfortable building data narratives and presenting findings to a range of stakeholders, from practitioners to leadership.
  • Experience partnering with cross functional teams such as product, design, marketing, engineering, and analytics.
  • Comfortable working in an enterprise environment with multiple analytical partners and shared platforms.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities, balance ad hoc requests with strategic work, and operate with a high degree of ownership.

Even better, you may have...

  • Experience connecting web analytics with CRM, media, or social data to evaluate end to end performance.
  • Familiarity with audience segmentation, personalization strategies, or customer journey analysis.
  • Experience working in or alongside an agency analytics or consulting team.
