Role Summary
The Senior Director, Digital Adoption & Enablement drives enterprise-wide adoption of digital initiatives across a global manufacturing organization. This leader ensures employees and leaders understand, adopt, and consistently apply new digital tools, standardized processes, and ways of working required to realize transformation value.
This role defines and leads the end-to-end organizational change management (OCM) and enablement strategy, embedding adoption into program planning, governance, and execution. They partner closely with executive leadership, global business and functional teams, IT, HR, and transformation program leaders to translate digital investments into sustained business outcomes.
Job Responsibilities
Enterprise Adoption Strategy & Program Integration
- Define and lead the end-to-end OCM strategy for digital transformation, embedding change management into program planning and execution from inception through stabilization.
- Drive the enterprise digital adoption and enablement strategy across multiple, concurrent transformation initiatives.
- Partner with executive sponsors and program leaders to align adoption priorities with business objectives and value realization targets.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on workforce readiness, adoption risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Establish and institutionalize scalable, enterprise-wide standards for adoption and enablement across regions and functions.
Adoption Planning, Readiness & Impact
- Lead comprehensive impact assessments across workforce, processes, and ways of working; translate findings into actionable adoption plans.
- Design and execute role-based change and adoption plans, including communications, training, leadership actions, and reinforcement mechanisms.
- Embed adoption, readiness, and impact actions into program governance, milestones, deployment plans, and release cycles.
- Establish and maintain a disciplined change governance rhythm with program leadership to actively manage impacts, sequencing, dependencies, and adoption risks.
- Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate adoption risks that may impact delivery timelines or business outcomes.
- Design and deploy targeted interventions for at-risk groups (e.g., leader coaching, toolkits, floor support, super-user mobilization).
Leadership Engagement & Advocacy
- Drive leadership alignment on what's changing, why it matters, what good looks like, and the required behavior changes.
- Facilitate readiness checkpoints, decision forums, and leadership alignment sessions to ensure clarity, accountability, and forward momentum.
- Build, activate, and sustain a network of change champions, super users, and trainers to accelerate adoption and create real-time field feedback loops.
- Equip leaders and advocates with clear messaging, tools, and expectations to reinforce adoption and sustain behavior change.
- Establish and act on feedback mechanisms to continuously refine adoption strategies and address field realities.
Job Responsibilities (Continued)
Training & Enablement
- Define and lead role-based enablement strategies and learning paths aligned to standardized, digitally enabled end-to-end business processes (e.g., order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, demand-to-supply, manufacture-to-inventory, commercial workflows).
- Drive development and governance of training assets (instructor-led sessions, simulations, job aids, quick reference guides, digital walkthroughs).
- Ensure training reinforces how tools and processes are expected to be used-not just system functionality.
- Establish enterprise learning curriculum in partnership with subject matter experts (internal and external).
- Lead delivery of training programs through a mix of train-the-trainer and direct delivery models, leveraging appropriate channels and technologies for global scale.
- Partner with Learning & Development to operationalize sustainable, scalable training solutions.
Adoption Measurement, Insights & Value Realization
- Establish and lead adoption measurement frameworks, including usage, proficiency trends, and leading indicators that signal whether change is progressing or stalling.
- Build and maintain adoption dashboards and KPIs; use insights to actively adjust strategies at key program milestones.
- Provide leadership with clear visibility into capability gaps, adoption barriers, and standardization risks.
- Recommend and drive corrective actions to protect and maximize transformation value realization.
Standards, Playbooks & Reusable Assets
- Establish enterprise standards, templates, and playbooks for digital change management, communications, training, and adoption planning.
- Build and govern a scalable content library with defined update processes tied to system enhancements, process changes, and release management.
- Drive consistency in adoption execution across workstreams while enabling scalability and reuse.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Influence
- Serve as the primary adoption and enablement partner to platform owners, process owners, and digital product teams.
- Balance enterprise consistency with regional and functional needs while maintaining alignment to global standards.
- Translate complex technical changes into clear business impacts and required actions.
- Influence outcomes and drive alignment in a highly matrixed environment without direct authority.
