Job description


We are currently seeking an experienced Diesel Engine Shop Supervisor to lead our engine department and oversee the maintenance, repair, and rebuilding of heavy-duty diesel engines in Garner, NC. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise and a commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will possess 5โ€“10 years of diesel engine experience, with a strong preference for individuals who have worked extensively with Caterpillar engines and generators.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and support a team of 10-15 diesel technicians, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
  • Coordinate workflow, assign jobs, and monitor shop productivity.
  • Oversee engine diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and complete rebuilds.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to technicians when troubleshooting complex issues.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate repair documentation and utilize computerized maintenance and shop management systems.
  • Work closely with parts and service personnel to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Promote a positive work environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor quality control and ensure customer expectations are consistently met.
Qualifications:
  • 5โ€“10 years of experience in diesel engine repair and maintenance.
  • Previous leadership, foreman, or supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy-duty diesel engines and engine rebuilding procedures.
  • Caterpillar engine experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience with engine diagnostics and troubleshooting.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management software.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
