Job description

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help. You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion. The Tech Ops Engineer (TOE) for the Generator Service Team (GST) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and driving the execution of technology projects that support the maintenance, and operational readiness of diesel generator operations across AWS IAD data centers. This role serves as the owner for defined projects within the GST, ensuring that preventive maintenance processes and tools, system upgrades, and operational improvement initiatives are delivered on time and with measurable impact.

The TOE I partners closely with GST managers and technicians, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate technical and operational needs/requirements into software tools and process. The TOE presents deliverable via actionable project plans, removes roadblocks, and drives cross-functional alignment. This role is a technical contributor, coordinator and a communication hub, responsible for keeping stakeholders informed, managing project risks, and ensuring that every initiative has clear measures of success tied to GST uptime and availability.
NOTE: Amazon does not sponsor for immigration, including for H-1B, TN, and other non-immigrant visas, for this role

NOTE: Lump sum stipend will be provided to eligible candidates who relocate for this position.
Key job responsibilities
- Act as single-threaded owner for planning, execution, and delivery of defined technology projects supporting generator service operations
- Define project requirements and drive design discussions with GST for processes and tools improvements
- Establish milestones, drive sensible deadlines, and manage project communications across GST
- Identify roadblocks impacting GST and drive resolution or ensure clear hand-off to the appropriate owner
- Negotiate included features and their priority for GST-related tools, systems, and process improvements
- Apply project management best practices to improve team efficiency across preventive maintenance scheduling, work order management (EAM), and labor planning, amongst others
- Transform raw technical information into clear documentation including functional requirements, technical specifications, project status reports, and metrics reports
- Ensure each project has defined measures of success including on-track indicators, cost savings verification, performance metrics, and customer satisfaction measures
- Manage trade-offs between available resources and project priorities within GST - Run effective meetings and deliver the right information to the right audience at the right time
- Clearly articulate scope, timeline, owners, risks, and mitigation steps to leadership up to 3 tiers above level
- Support change management programs through technical writing and documentation
- Supports training GST upon the deployment of new tools and processes
- Uses AWS/Amazon internal tools and resources to deploy solutions proficiently
