Job description

We are looking for a Diesel/Generator Technician in the Wilmington, NC area.

A skilled technician performing comprehensive maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and repairs on power generation systems and other diesel equipment. Operating remotely from home, you will manage field service requests, local travel, and project support while continuing your professional growth through manufacturer-backed technical training. It offers an excellent opportunity to bring your technical expertise to a fast-paced, high-demand field.

Position Offers:

  • Hourly rate up to $35/hr If your target pay is higher, we still encourage you to apply—we could request adjustments based on experience and market conditions.

  • Comprehensive medical plan, plus Dental, Vision, HSA, and FSA options.

  • 3 weeks of paid vacation after 90 days, up to 9 paid holidays, and paid sick time.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and full repairs on diesel and gaseous generators (50kw - 2mw) and parallel systems.

  • Troubleshoot and repair Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), including bypass isolation and closed transition models.

  • Diagnose and repair AC/DC circuits, ignition components, fuel injection systems, and perform valve adjustments.

  • Conduct load bank testing to verify units meet proper operating performance and code compliance.

  • Perform warranty repairs following manufacturer protocols and lead startup/commissioning for new generator installations.

  • Work remotely from home, managing assigned inventory, service equipment, digital job reporting, and vehicle upkeep while assisting on complex multi-person projects.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 2+ years of troubleshooting generator engines, diesel engines, AC/DC electrical systems, ATS equipment, and/or performing complex mechanical repairs.
