Job description

Job Description
The Clinical Nursing Instructor instructs students in specific procedures and critical thinking skills to enable the student to gradually progress to nursing functions. This individual must work closely with the didactic instructors and course leader to ensure consistency in presenting clinical laboratory procedures and in the clinical setting. Reports to the Clinical Coordinator and the Dean of the School of Nursing.
Job Duties
  • Works with other instructors and Clinical Laboratory coordinator to plan laboratory experiences for students.
  • Assists students during open lab sessions to optimize practice sessions when contracted to do so.
  • Assist instructors in evaluation of lab and clinical performance of students.
  • Develops scenarios, strategies, case studies and other means to demonstrate clinical procedures.
  • Maintains proficiency in all clinical procedures and utilizes evidence-based practice to guide performance in laboratory and clinical setting.
  • Ensures safety in the clinical setting for students, patients and other faculty.
  • Informs the Course Leader of any deficiencies or performance issues of students.
  • Maintains an accommodating and supportive demeanor when dealing with students.

Qualifications
  • The Clinical Instructor will possess a minimum of a BSN and will commit to work on a Master's Degree in Nursing with a timeline for completion approved by the Dean.
  • A current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Kentucky.
  • Also requires current AHA BLS, completion of clinical requirements, background check, drug screening, and personal medical insurance.
  • Requires 2 years of full-time employment within the past 5 years in area of intent to conduct clinical.
