JONES COUNTY JUNIOR COLLEGE
POSITION DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Didactic Faculty, Radiography
DEPARTMENT: School of Health Sciences/ Radiologic Technology
REPORTS TO: Radiologic Technology Program Director
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-Time
COMPENSATION: Based on the Jones College Salary Structure for employment

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Didactic Faculty member is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in radiologic technology courses, supporting student learning and success, and contributing to program development, accreditation, and continuous improvement. This role includes classroom instruction, supervision of clinical education of students, curriculum development, student evaluation, and collaboration with program leadership.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Didactic Faculty have the following duties and responsibilities:
Budget
• Participate in the development of the program budget.
• Participate in developing bid specifications for instructional equipment, supplies, and materials.
Craft Committee
• Interacts and serves on the program's craft/advisory committee.
Curriculum Planning and Implementation
• Participate in planning and developing the Radiography Curriculum.
• Order textbooks, instructional materials, and supplies needed for instruction.
• Instruct assigned courses of the Radiography Curriculum.
Physical Resources and Equipment
• Maintain an attractive and safe classroom and laboratory environment.
• Advise students concerning classroom and laboratory policies.
• Supervise students in the classroom and laboratory.
• Maintain radiation protection standards as required by state and national regulatory agencies.
Professional/Personal Development
• Pursue professional development courses, seminars, workshops, and institute designs to enhance the quality of instruction delivered in the classroom and laboratory.
• Join and participate in professional organizations.
• Meet the evidence of continuing education requirements mandated by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T.).
Program Development
• Student instruction and evaluation in all positioning and procedures classes.
• Maintain student records.
• Support the Program Director to ensure effective program operations.
Program Faculty
• Coordinate classroom education with other instructors.
• Serve as a liaison between the program and clinical facilities.
Public Relations
• Exhibit a positive image of the college and self to members of the general public.
• Cooperate and communicate with the Mississippi Community College Board and other relational entities.
• Maintain institutional relationships with members of the Board of Trustees, administration, and other college faculty or support personnel.
Student Services
• Recruit students for the Radiography Program as well as other programs at Jones County Junior College.
• Serve as an advisor to assigned students.
• Refer students to the Guidance Office for counseling and resource assistance.
• Assist the Program Director in maintaining records/files on students of the Radiographer Program.
• Assist graduates in job placement.
Other
• Attend faculty meetings.
• Attend college meetings.
• Participate in college functions and activities.
• Adhere to the general faculty duties and responsibilities listed in the Policy and Procedures Manual of the college.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director, School of Health Sciences Dean, the Assistant Vice President of Instruction, the Vice President of Instruction, the Executive Vice President of Instruction and/or the President of the College.
QUALIFICATION
The Didactic Faculty must meet the following minimum requirements:
Education
• Minimum educational level of bachelor's degree.
Experience
• Proficient in areas of curriculum development, supervision, instruction, evaluation and academic advising.
• Qualified to teach the subject assigned.
• Meet the appropriate qualifications for instructors as described in the JCJC Policy and Procedures Manual.
• Documents two years' clinical experience in the professional discipline
Certification/License
• Hold American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in radiography.
• Hold a current Mississippi Medical Radiologic Technologist License
