Summary
We're looking for an Operations Paralegal to join our Personal Injury Operations Department. Successful candidates will possess excellent interpersonal skills-necessary to communicate information with courtesy and tactfulness, will be flexible and adaptable under pressure, and be responsible for areas including but not limited to:
Responsibilities
  • Accomplish strategic objectives by overseeing multiple project activities.
  • Provide operational oversight of attorneys and use their respective calendars to schedule depositions, contact court, work with defense counsel to set dates, sending out demands on time, and keep cases moving forward with little oversight
  • Potential to audit attorney/staff tasks and establish, enable, and execute additional processes to ensure operationally everything is working proactively and and efficiently.
  • Ensuring attorney cases are filed within 90 days
  • Setting deadlines for attorneys and following up to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assist in the preparation and trial of lawsuits by ensuring attorneys are following all steps to push cases forward
  • Help create a SOP for best practices in pushing PL cases forward
  • Conduct legal research, file management, and case progression activities.
  • Prepare experts or other witnesses; coordinates any other necessary pre-trial and/or trial activities as required
  • Contacts parties and witnesses concerning trial dates and coordinates with the attorney regarding appearance and testimony
  • Be adaptable, curious and creatively solve problems in an evolving space, capable of managing complexity while maintaining a sense of balance.
  • Contribute to team strategic initiatives and help build shared standards, processes, and aid in positive department culture.
  • Communicate job expectations by planning, monitoring, appraising, and reviewing job contributions.
  • Present a professional and helpful appearance
  • Assists in other areas of department or other departments as required

Qualification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of legal terminology.
  • Three to five (3-5) years paralegal experience required.
  • Paralegal degree or paralegal certification from an accredited institute of learning or similar experience.
  • Commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards; personal and professional integrity, unquestioned discretion in maintaining confidentiality.
  • Accurate, thorough, and keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; excellent written and oral communication skills in both public and private settings.
  • PC Literate with a firm understanding of Microsoft Office Programs.
  • Diplomacy, pragmatism and assertiveness.
  • Impeccable organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced organization.
