POSITION SUMMARY Performs skilled duties related to installation, repair, replacement and modification of heating systems in dwellings and conducts energy audits. Work involves replacing and installing heating systems in homes requiring license as a qualified journeyman and/or heating contractor. Performs energy audits of homes, furnace efficiency tests and furnace tune-ups.
This posting will close at midnight on 07/19/2026 OR once we receive 20 applications, whichever occurs first This posting may be used to fill multiple vacancies WHAT YOU WILL DO Removes and installs new heating systems in homes in accordance with applicable codes and standards. Replaces furnaces, adapting duct work, venting and gas piping; repairs, replaces and seals duct work; checks for integrity of heat exchangers, and replaces heat exchangers and unsafe gas connectors. Cleans and tunes gas-fired furnaces to improve energy efficiency of units.
Uses power tools and equipment of the trade including measuring instruments, gauges and hand and power tools to measure and calculate energy losses of dwellings. Measures energy efficiency of home heating units. Conducts energy audits of dwellings.
Completes paperwork and accurately documents material and labor usage. Records findings and prepares written reports. Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
WHAT YOU HAVE EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED equivalency and successful completion of apprenticeship in furnace installation preferred EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four years experience performing building energy conservation work or building construction and maintenance work that required installation of heating equipment required LICENSES/CERTIFICATES: Valid driver's license at the time of application and a valid Colorado driver's license at time of hire required Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30 Hour current certification or ability to obtain within sixty (60) days of hire required Retrofit Installer Technician Current certification or ability to obtain within hire six (6) months of hire required Building Science Principles current certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of hire required Mechanical C Contractor-Gas/Sheet Metal License current or ability to obtain within one (1) year from date of hire required Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification preferred SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to pass post job offer physical screening Must successfully pass background check NOTE: For preferred qualifications, the substitution of any combination of relevant and related education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and ability may be considered, including by way of example, specific experience or skill-based qualifications that may substitute for certain educational requirements, or a combination of relevant education and experience, including supervisory experience.
