Why Omni?

Our Customer?

The Army Software Factory (ASWF) is a modern tech hub launched by the U.S. Army in January 2021. Based in Austin, Texas (at the Austin Community College Rio Grande Campus), the ASWF is revolutionizing the Army’s approach to software development by training and employing self-sustaining technical talent from across the military and civilian workforce. Guided by the motto “By Soldiers, For Soldiers,” ASWF equips service members to develop mission-critical software solutions independently—especially vital for future contested environments where traditional technical support may be unavailable. This initiative also serves as a strategic prototype to modernize legacy IT processes and build technical readiness across the force to ensure battlefield dominance in the digital age.

IT Automation and Integration Specialist Position

OMNI is looking for an IT Automation and Integration Specialist that is experienced in DevSecOps automation, API integration, and cloud infrastructure orchestration to streamline development and deployment. The preferred candidate will have experience managing large-scale, distributed google workspace environments.

This position will work closely with ASWF leadership as they move to a hub-and-spoke model to scale digital skills and push problem-solving down to tactical echelons. The central hub in Austin, Texas, trains soldier-developers and builds foundational platforms, while deployed spokes and product teams tackle unit-specific operational needs in the field. Critical to the success of this hub-and-spoke model will be the ability for ASWF to integrate and share information data with the “hubs”, often crossing various architectures and cloud platforms.

Specialized Requirements:

  • 12+ Years of experience in IT support roles.

  • DoD 8140.03 Advanced Level Certification: (e.g., CISSP, CASP+/SecurityX, CISM, GCIH) (Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Technical Discipline (ex. Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Security) from an ABET accredited or CAE designated degree program

  • Experience managing large-scale, distributed Google Workspace environments

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure components including servers, networking, databases, and operating systems (Linux/Windows).

  • 4+ years experience in IT operations or DevSecOps.

  • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing automation solutions using scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash).

  • Strong understanding of API integrations and experience working with RESTful APIs, SOAP, and other integration protocols.

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and automating cloud infrastructure provisioning and management.

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and CI/CD pipelines, including tools like GitLab, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.

  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.

  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex automation workflows and integration issues.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with various IT teams and stakeholders.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and utilize an Active DoD Secret Clearance while supporting secure government environments.

  • Provide advanced IT support and technical expertise, leveraging 10+ years of experience to support enterprise operations and end users.

  • Centralize and standardize organizational knowledge across Google Workspace, GitLab, Microsoft 365, and internal intranet systems.

  • Design and maintain scalable knowledge management frameworks, including documentation architecture, taxonomy development, governance models, and information lifecycle management.

  • Identify and implement automation opportunities for knowledge capture, updates, and distribution using Google Apps Script, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and Microsoft Power Automate.

  • Consolidate and optimize enterprise knowledge bases by reducing duplication and improving searchability and discoverability across the organization.

  • Develop scripts, improve processes, and integrate systems to reduce manual operational overhead and increase organizational efficiency.

  • Design and optimize information architecture and user experiences for internal knowledge-sharing platforms.

  • Implement and manage content lifecycle management processes, including content audits, version control, archival strategies, and governance procedures.

  • Implement role-based access controls and content segmentation strategies across Google Drive, SharePoint, GitLab Wiki, and internal intranet environments.

  • Lead training, enablement sessions, and internal outreach to drive adoption of knowledge management best practices and improve organizational collaboration.

Nice to Have:

  • Knowledge of integrating ITSM processes with documentation workflows, including automated generation and maintenance of knowledge base articles from incidents, tickets, or operational events.

  • Experience maintaining SOPs, operational runbooks, and service documentation aligned with evolving IT systems and infrastructure changes.

  • Understanding of access control, compliance, cybersecurity, and OPSEC requirements related to enterprise knowledge management systems.
