Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Operations Project Manager at Pref-Tech who will be responsible for overseeing multiple complex projects while simultaneously ensuring that all clients’ expectations are met. This role operates at a level comparable to an Operations Manager and is responsible for leading project execution, operational performance, resource planning, customer satisfaction, and financial results across multiple projects and teams.


The Senior Operations Project Manager will lead their team of Project Managers and ensure they provide unparalleled service in a profitable manner by training, developing and inspiring their team, managing resources effectively, and continuously striving for excellence.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the security integration industry, with a proven track record of managing complex projects, financial and operational KPI's and leading high-performing teams. This role is responsible for managing daily operations, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of our services, and leading teams of dedicated professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

A Senior Operations Project Manager is expected to perform any of the duties and responsibilities below, but not limited to:

  • Financial and Performance Management of Project Management Teams: 
    • Own and manage operational KPIs including:
      • Project gross margin and profitability
      • Labor utilization, efficiency and productivity
      • On‑time / on‑budget delivery
    • Review, analyze, and drive forecast accuracy, backlog health, and labor capacity planning.
    • Partner with Finance to ensure accurate billing, revenue recognition, cost tracking, and variance resolution.
    • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities within project financials and take corrective action as needed.
  • Leadership: 
    • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and professional development for assigned Project Managers and their direct reports, driving high performance and career growth.
    • Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and corrective action processes as needed.
    • Establish and reinforce a team culture centered on ownership, safety, quality execution, accountability, and exceptional customer service.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Field teams to ensure alignment with company goals and strategic priorities.
    • Drive consistency and discipline across project management processes, documentation standards, and field execution.
  • Project Oversight: 
    • Oversee Project Managers’ planning, execution, and successful delivery of security integration projects, ensuring completion on time, within scope, and within approved budgets.
    • Ensure Project Managers are delivering the “Pref-Tech Experience” to our customers by ensuring quality control with field presence on project sites.
    • Oversee and coach Project Manager performance to achieve targeted project margins, labor utilization, and change order management goals
    • Lead Project Managers to ensure delivery of proper job closeout, documentation, training, and customer handoff
  • Client Relations: 
    • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, general contractors, and internal stakeholders
    • Support customer escalations and ensure timely resolution
    • Partner with Sales on operational feedback, capacity planning, and improving future project quality
  • Risk Management and Compliance: 
    • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project, operational, financial, and contractual risks across assigned projects and portfolios.
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, safety standards, contractual requirements, and regulatory obligations.
    • Identify, develop and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness and project outcomes.
    • Promote and adapt the documented PM Process & Monthly Financial Cadence with training and coaching of your assigned Teams to increase efficiency & effectiveness.
    • Continuously help Pref-Tech refine and improve the way the company operates.
  • Process Executive Reporting and Communication
    • Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and actionable reporting to senior leadership on project performance, financial health, risks, and capacity.
    • Provide executive-level visibility into KPIs, forecasts, backlog, staffing needs, and major project challenges.
    • Translate data into insights, highlighting trends, root causes, and recommendations to support leadership decision-making.
    • Lead or participate in executive reviews, operational cadence meetings, and financial performance discussions as required.

Required Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
  • Must have 3 years' experience with Financial and Performance Management of Project Management Teams
  • At least 10 years of project management experience, with 5 of those years spent managing in the general construction and/or specialty trade contracting industries.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, Project (PWA), Visio, Adobe, etc.)
  • Obtain and maintain a security license through the Texas Department of Public Safety.
  • Know and enforce Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and requirements.
  • Experience in managing teams and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent leadership skills with experience in leading and managing a team successfully with proven ability to meet deadlines and duties.
  • Subject matter expert on installing and servicing access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance systems.
  • Foundational understanding of IP networking and IP-based equipment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written formats.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with strong problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • PMP or similar project management certification
  • Experience leading multi‑location or regional teams

Work Hours & Travel: 

  • Our office hours are from Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
    • As a part of overseeing the Project Managers and teams the required work hours may extend outside of office hours to be available during hours required to support specific jobsite hours including nights and weekends.
  • Overnight Travel is 10-20% to other Pref-Tech offices, quarterly meetings and conferences.
