To thrive as a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer, you need strong expertise in systems administration, cloud platforms, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, and cloud services like AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus certifications like AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, are highly valuable. Problem-solving, collaboration, and effective communication are essential soft skills to streamline workflows and bridge development and operations teams. These competencies are vital to ensure robust, scalable, and efficient infrastructure that supports rapid software delivery and reliable system performance.

What are some common challenges faced by DevOps Infrastructure professionals, and how can they be addressed?

DevOps Infrastructure professionals often encounter challenges such as managing complex cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration between development and operations, and maintaining high system reliability. Addressing these challenges typically involves adopting automation tools for configuration management, fostering close collaboration between cross-functional teams, and staying updated with evolving technologies. Regular communication, continuous learning, and a proactive approach to incident management can help mitigate these issues and contribute to a smoother DevOps workflow.

What is DevOps infrastructure?

DevOps infrastructure refers to the combination of hardware, software, networks, and cloud resources that support the development, deployment, and operation of software applications using DevOps practices. It enables automation, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and monitoring, allowing teams to release software more quickly and reliably. DevOps infrastructure often includes tools for provisioning servers, managing configurations, containerization, orchestration, and monitoring performance. By optimizing infrastructure, organizations can improve collaboration between development and operations teams, reduce downtime, and scale applications efficiently.

Job description

We're Topaz Labs, an AI tech company that builds one-click image and video quality software with deep learning. Over 1M photographers and designers trust us with their work, including teams at Google, Nvidia, NASA, and more. We've processed over 1 billion images, achieved 1000% revenue growth in the last 4 years, and we're just getting started.

About us

Rocketship growth and opportunity for impact ($3M → $48M revenue in six years). Over 1 million customers (including companies like Apple, NASA, Netflix) have used us for over 1 billion photos. Our tech has been covered by Fast Company, The Verge, Engadget, Mashable, BBC, and more. We're a world-class team that executes quickly, obsesses about the customer experience, promotes from within, and we're profitable with infinite runway.

About the role

As a DevOps Engineer on our team you would be a key part of development on all Topaz software - including our core products, Photo AI, Video AI and Gigapixel, ML model training infrastructure and distribution, and our website and other internal tooling.
You will be working alongside our current devops engineer and helping expand our pipeline to deliver new products and ML models as we grow in 2024.

Another chief goal is to increase automated testing and stability of our applications.  You will also work closely with our product engineering team to sustain & improve biweekly update deliveries, as well as internal development processes. You will be joining an awesome team that sets a high standard for craftsmanship and feature delivery.

About you
  • At least 2 years of professional working experience in a related field.
  • Deep familiarity with C++ build tools (3+ years).
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or similar cloud platforms.
  • Experience building and deploying CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience implementing test automation.
  • Knowledge of networking infrastructure including CDN caching.
Preferred
  • Experience building releases for Windows and/or MacOS or iOS.
  • Experience in Python, Go or Javascript.
  • QT development/build experience.
  • Experience with Conan.
  • Experience with test automation tools such as Eggplant.
Our compensation packages will correspond to experience, but also performance during the interview process. They include base salary, equity, and profit sharing.
Do you meet most but not 100% of the above? We’d still like to hear from you–we are passionate about developing a diverse team and culture, so please apply if you’re interested!

This is a unique role for someone interested in making a deep impact at a high-growth tech software company. We offer strong base salary, plus significant ownership that scales with the company's growth. We also offer 100% covered medical/dental/vision for employees, 15 days annual PTO, 5 personal days, plus holidays, and 401k matching. This is a full-time onsite role in Dallas, TX, and we will ask you to relocate if you're not in the area.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
